It does look better in snow, thats for sure. The treehouse does look
insanely awkward - don't know if you could ever really rectify that
though, since the standard trees weren't designed to accomodate
structures  The last screenshot has a lot of charm to it, and the
snow covered logs are a nice touch. I'd rotate the texture on the
wooden pillars if I were you, as the grain doesn't look right being
perpendicular to the greater length. The wood chippings displacement
has a little jagged outcrop that could use smoothing out too. From the
screenshots it looks like your outside walls are painfully simplistic -
make them more interesting and get in a 3D skybox with some snowy hills
or something and things should look sexier.

After he went overboard showing his gratitude on the last map, I feel we should be gentle on him on this one. It obviously was very hard for him last time so if we ignore this map completely it won't cause him hours of grief.

I for one think he could put this map to some use in the bathroom.

I like it so far, but I'd have to see the map itself to give you much more than what I can see...

You completely ignored the input of this site in your credits. Whether you amend that oversight or not is moot now. You have this site to be thankful to 100% for how the map looked from the first day you posted it, and until you released it. If it wasn't for the massive efforts given here your piece of s**t map would have remained as such. Thankfully, we were mature enough to OVERLOOK YOUR PAST. Mine will not suffer, nor benefit from any correspondence with you what so ever.

However, I feel that your oversight burned you last and final bridge. You may post maps, you may receive some input, but you prolly will never again receive the input you have had over the past.

As far as I am concerned, you did this to yourself again. No encouragement was given and I kept my word, I swore not to aggravate you needlessly. Until yesterday I ignored everything, and every chance to point out your.... strangeness.

As far as I am concerned, if you created the next best map in history, it wouldn't repair the damage you have caused.

This, is as mature as I will get. Henceforth, you will go back on my ignore list.. Rant, rave, blame anyone you wish, but you will not entice another response ever again... You have now joined the leagues of Rugal and as such are a non-person... Non Persons have no opinions. Non persons have no nothing. The best part is, no one has to share that opinion to make it false either. Course, most of us know its a fairly shares concept.

/rant
/story

[edit] If anyone has any issues with this response, please feel free to keep it totally to yourself unless requested by either Doc or myself. You advice/input is not needed nor required. Neither of us needs defended nor helped. We can dig our own holes thank you very much. Our squabbles need not be your squabbles... However if you jump in the pool, be sure you are ready, the water is quite warm and you may get your butt burned.

The best things in life, aren't things.

Jeezus mary and joseph already!

Doc, I remember downloading this map as a sawmill sometime ago. It was'nt very playable due to some performance issues, i.e. framerates and the likes, if i remember correctly. Are you progressing at all on any of those issues?

Also I have to agree about the treehouse, it just looks wrong. It does'nt seem as if the tree has anything to do with the house up there. Maybe distort the architecture a bit to more resemble an actual treehouse.

Before any of you do gooders get your panties twisted. This whole discussion is about mesabase.. The thread is locked by the new system unfortunately or the discussion would have been there instead of here. This discussion has nothing to do with this or any subsequent map.

Pictures have little to do with it myrk - DocRock made the map, got
lots of feedback on it from snarkpit members, but then didn't say even
a "thank you" in the credits. I can of course see Orph's point about it
being a bit of a slap in the face not to give credit where credit is
due, but he's hardly the first person to do so and this is clearly more
of a retort than an average joe would recieve.

Personally I'm completely fed up with all these little vendetta's - it
brings down the whole mood of the site and forever leaves me with a
bitter taste in my mouth. Orph, it isn't your place to say "stay out of
it" to everybody when you bring it up in a public forum. If you want
privacy keep these things to PM's please.

Try to see what you are saying then, try to figure out exactly what solution would appease your sensibilities.

On the one hand, I can only truly speak FOR myself, yet to do so really sounds vain and self centered.

To speak FOR anyone else is the pinnacle of arrogance and from my viewpoint NOT an option.

Now, in spite of the fact that some words or phrases might include others, there are damned few options when voicing a bitch that involves an entire community, and still only make it sound as if you are talking one on one.

Lastly, as tired as you MAY be is so unimportant, that its not even a consideration. You all had your chance to nip Doc's actions in the bud ages ago and you opted to bow out. Each for your own reasons, and I am positive that the reasons were proper and respectable ones. However, you cannot come in at the end of the game and say "enough".. It is not within you right, it is not anything what so ever cause you opted to not say anything in the early stages that would have ended it before it reached its present state.

I do however have the right to say "Keep your mouths shut" You also have the same right to ignore the comment but, in doing so you accept whatever follows.

As I have said in the past I will speak to each of you as if you were right here in this room with me, and as such I will give you a chance to shut up before I knock your teeth out. That way I have no guilty feelings because you are an adult and as such responsible for your actions and choices.

Now that you have read all this I must ask one question. Do you REALLY want to oppose me in an argument that no longer exists? I mean, as far as Doc goes, he just became forever a nobody. I will ignore him personally, and treat his maps like so much garbage whenever possible.. Unless somehow he suddenly starts creating something thats not. Otherwise, he will be treated EXACTLY with the same level of contempt he has show this site since his arrival.

I would really rather not argue with you over Doc. If however you want to argue over another topic, I am game and have no inhibitions with burying you if it is within my ability to do so. Otherwise, it will not be my turn to win, no hard feelings, no nothin.

I gave Doc almost 24 hours to remedy his oversight. I figure, last minute things often do slip through the cracks. Hell, I even forgot to include any txt with a map once.. Accidents happen. This was not an accident.

I am asking each of you to drop this, cause I have already. You, each of you owe me that much.

p.s. The yellow part is the only really important part of all this, if you read nothing else, read that much.

The best things in life, aren't things.

you force your bile on this thread because the mesabase thread is locked, and then you threaten to knock the teeth out of anyone that objects. gg.

Chalk it up to phrases that do not translate well i suppose.

in other words, if I ask you to stay out of our debate, do so. If you opt to not stay out, which is within your rights, you cannot say you have not been forewarned and the discussion would continue with YOU now in it as a participant. A participant subject to the outcome that ensues. sighs That sounds so long winded but to make it shorter. If you are not ready to truly accept the outcome, stay out.

As for the yellow bit. Why are you bitching about a discussion that ended? Thats what it means. I have no wish to create hard feeling with my friends over such a useless hunk of s**t.

Anywho's, I am off to bed. If you want to continue debating, lets begin a new thread as this one has the stink of a loser upon it.

(I would really like someone to someday suggest a book for me to read that would enlighten me on local colloquialisms of the UK.. Things like "knock your teeth out doesn't really mean you will be toothless over here. At least not where I live. Its a.... whats the word.. Its a defensive tactic like two bears facing off.)

For what its worth, I am thankful that this tread has not degraded like it normally would.
nite-nite.

[EDIT] I just thought of an example in definition of "knock your teeth out" Fish.

Last Christmas my brother in law was a bit drunk and causing a scene. Generally being abusive more/less. I told him "cool off before I shove a snowball up your ass". Now I had no intentions at all of ripping his britches off and plunking a snowball in his nether regions BUT the tactic worked. He calmed down.

Perhaps, that makes sense, of there is an old saying here. "If you cannot stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

Any argument you have with me in the topic, will be a warm one. Enter at your own risk.

The best things in life, aren't things.

so your analogy places all of the members of the snarkpit in the role of the abusive brother-in-law, and you felt you needed to put us all in our places?

Orph, you know that i can get under your skin, but i'm not interested in going there, and i know that you don't want me there. It was fair comment for ReNo to say this isn't the place for long term grievences to be dragged up, because it does put a bad mood on the site.

I've met people like you Fish, they are hurt a lot around here. Thats not a metaphor, people like you are often in casts and bandages. The seem to have accidents. A lot.

How you always twist things into meaninglessness is a gift but not one I crave to hear at this particular moment. Do not confuse the fact that we were told to drop it last time with my not being able to cope. The distance between us is however to great to resolve anything in a meaningful way so yeah.. You are right,NOT right now.

If you truly want to read what I wrote and change it into what you wrote then I can live with that. Its unfair, but you have said far worse so its not a real problem. I think I was clear enough to convey the message to most.

As I said, and you seem unwilling to associate text with reality is, THE TOPIC DIED, WHY ARE WE STILL HERE! Nothing else really matters.

And, for the last time... What the site wants, or does NOT want is of absolutely no importance. You all had your chance to speak up ages ago and opted not to then. At this stage.. The feeling is mutual, I do not want to hear you either but, shrugs

/post this thread.

Don't know about the U.S. Orph, but if someone here says they're 'going to knock yer teeth out', they usually mean it literally, so if that wasn't what you actually meant, I would suggest rewording your post slightly as it comes across as quite aggressive and hostile.

I think part of the reason this thread exploded the way it has is simply because it seems to be a never-ending feud from our point of view. Deep down there is probably just cause for it - but I personally tire of reading the same old stuff over and over. I can't speak for everyone else, but i'm guessing the feeling is mutual.

This is not an attack on you Orph, cos I think we've progressed past that over the last few years - just my opinion of the situation.

nope, never had a cast in my life. maybe your thinking of some d***h**d 'round there' that lets you bully them.

gimme a shout when you're feeling up to it then.

Do not confuse the fact that we were told to drop it last time with my not being able to cope.

i'm not interested in what happened in the past and seeing old wounds get picked open, which was my original point. even though it pertained to you and Doc Rock at the time
