Yer, get the scale right at first. Maybe you should build a really simple model of it, then put the pieces your building on top to make sure they are the right size.

I know they are the right size, I have blueprints set up around the
model, and I align them to that. Once I sort out some minor
issues I can finally get something better.

Its dissapearing on the left probably because faces on models are only viewed on 1 side usually... but anyway, looking good.

Yeah, I'm modeling with planes, so they're normally one sided.
There is a way to get them 2-sided, but I can't find it. I've
asked on the forums, awaiting reply.

you can set a back side in the material or in the plane menu (not sure
where) but as far as I know it only draws a plane, you still cant
select the back of the plane.

Humph, that first link would be useful, but unfortunately I don't have
brazil renderer. I'm using default scanline right now, probably
use mental or vray when I want to make it look good.

I'd just apply a solid colour then use specular effects etc like pepper said.

Indeed. Since I'm sort of winging this whole project, it's taking
an incredibly painfully long time. I know guys who can model most
of the body ina day. Makes me feel inadiquate

Dude. Don't get bothered with people who are good, they're all 30+
years anyway. You got the time to learn, we are the winning generation.

It is actually. From all the reference pictures I have, I can't
figure out how the bumper works below that (it's not a popular place to
photograph) so I don't know what the hell happens down there. I
decided to leave that place alone then, instead of spending a lot of
time tinkering with it when I could do other stuff (doors). It
will be addressed, hopefully soon, but I can't find any good ref. pics
to show me what happens

I've started modeling the back part. Nothing really worth showing, but it's more and more starting to look like a car

Yea, car modeling does get a bit tedious. Nice work none the less.
