This new file system has been delayed for a while now, but it's designed for the upcoming Windows Vista (successor to XP).

I read its not evcen gonna be ready for windows vista. Personally, Vista looks like crap. They seem to be looking at linux, and OS X and just copying stuff from it, only trying to add their own twist to it and turning it into crap. Of course copying is nothing new for microsoft...

Aside from snarkpit going to hell, I just don't like the way things are going in general with the WHOLE technology world. Vista looks like it sucks. I dont wanna have to learn Linux. Steam and HL2 suck all the new games suck. It's like we've run out of NEW things so we are going back and making everything we already have politically correct and idiot-proof.

Haven't you heard that they're changing the "master/slave" drive settings to something else because black ppl were whining?

hahahaha

Learn linux, its worth it. The only reason i don't use linux completely is becuase windows has a god damn monopoly on all the software. I've seen one game for linux not counting UT games, and it sucked. Plus cedega (the new winex) doesn't work well on my hardware setup for some reason.

And yet, all the games that actually use something multi-platformed like Java for development STILL are Windows only!

It's pretty bad though, because Microsoft isn't just licencing software to be Windows only, they do it with hardware too.

As for your "I don't want to learn Linux" remark, there's not much to learn. You already know how to use the GUI, since it's just like Windows. As for the shell interface, it's just calling programs.

Steam doesn't "suck", you just don't like change (I have never experienced this incredible reduction in system resources everyone talks about). There are also plenty of new games that are great. Don't you think you're just bitching to bitch here?

Yeah, Steam really f**ked with me. I have a picture of it using like 80MB of RAM.

In today's computer's 80 mb isn't that much with 512 mb. And if you have a gig, its lik eabosolutely nothing. You want a resource hog try BF2 mod editor, just running the thing tyring to paint my map with terrain uses 600 mb RAM and 1.6 gb of pagefiles.

Steam is a really cool idea, i hate downloading patches, now steam does it for me. Its just got some bugs still.

See, here's the thing though. If you guys want a reason to bash Windows, here it is:

IT DOESN'T MANAGE PHYSICAL MEMORY VERY WELL.

It fills up virtual memory before using even half of physical memory!

Another incredibly annoying thing is when you copy large files (such as the contents of an entire cd) to another place on the computer, for some reason, Windows drops it's page files. This means once the copy is complete, it has to re-page everything.

You've probably noticed at times where your computer was very laggy, but nothing was eating up the resources? That's the reason why.

So, something taking large amounts of memory is actually a problem, but keep in mind, it's probably not steams fault. I've noticed many programs greatly overstepping their bounds. I've caught AIM, of all things, reaching 80Mb of usage. You just keep restarting the program until it allocates the right amount. I've also noticed, some programs may be equipped to ensure they have enough operating memory (this is just a guess), because if you begin to really bog down your system, you'll notice some idle programs begin growing in size.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Is that Master/slave thing true? No offence, but I f**king hate whining racist black people. Everyone complains so much about anything just because they can. Seriously- why can't we just get along eh? Drop the hate, theres no need, we don't care anymore! I mean theres an ethnic olympics, but if there was a white man olympics there'd be riots and wars!

If blacks are offended by the master/slave designation, they are basically admitting that they are "slaves" and helping to propagate the stereotype.

If they dont' make a big fuss about it, then no one would really even think of it.

Should feminists revolt against the male/female designation of electrical connections?

Why should they? There's no suggestion of which type of plug is dominant, so it's quite an egalitarian sort of terminology. Besides, everyone likes to think about sex, even feminists.

I like how general populations just assume all slaves ever, or even the largest majority of slaves, were blacks enslaved by whites.

Slavery is profitable and really has no racial preference.

I mean, it's not like the master pin settings are white and the slave pin settings are black or something like that. And, honestly, what else would you call it? Primary and secondary? Because hardware uses that too often.

Should we change controller cards too? I guess calling something a "manager" makes it 'better'?
