Almost 3 Years Already...

I've been hanging around here for about 3 years already.

I was browsing some old topics and noticed a post by me where I said "I am only 14 years old" and I am 17 years old now.

Actually, I've been visiting this site since about 7 years ago, but back then I just did so because of the awesome database of HL 1 Deathmatch maps that I used to play with bots.

checks profile.. Oh, I just noticed that you can obviously see when you joined the pit. It was the 23rd of March in 2009. (I knew it was somewhere in march :P)

Anyway, I remember I tried to make an account, but there was something wrong with the (new design) site that prevented me from doing so. I contacted Riven, who I found in the Snarkpit's Steam Group, who let me know that it seems that no users were able to register for over 4 weeks. Gladly it was fixed quickly.

I then posted my first finished map (DM_ArenaBunkers) and got some great feedback. That's really where my mapping hobby began.

I hope to be here for much longer

Haha, tell me about it. I made my first account called "Freeman" back when I was...what? 13? 14? It got terminated because I was trolling a lot. Just deleted without a warning, thats what I got for saying that the moderators wouldn't ban me! In a way I wished they just banned me so I could at least re read the posts and see how I was thinking at the time.

I remember downloading prefabs from the school computer and taking them home on a floppy disk to put in my maps at home, as we had no internet connection back then! I remember downloading the updates for Worldcraft as it was called at the time. Orpheus has always been an abrasive old fart, even back then I remember being amazed that Valve gave the player the tools to design levels themselves, the endless possiblities where mind blowing to me.

It's been far too long. I'm praying HL3 will come out within my lifetime so that I'll have a strong enough excuse to start mapping again.
