To celebrate the release of Tribes:Vengeance, Vivendi releases the two previous Tribes games ... for free !

Tribes 2 surely is worth it ... good gameplay ... but they're both quite old games, so don't mind the graphics. (although tribes 2's are still good)

If you got a $100 around, you can buy the Torque Engine from garagegames.com. That's a damn good deal because the engine's pretty customizable and easy to use.

http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/tribes2/ for Tribes 2, in case you miss it. They seem to have run out of CD keys for the sequel though, which is a shame....hopefully they'll have more up.

Wow, you sure? I was working on a game with some people last year utilizing the torque engine. If what you say is true its a good thing the game went no where.

You sort of contracted it - even if its a dated engine, ?100 is a steal, I don't think you pay your ?100 and thats it. Its not as simple as "they own your stuff", but there is some clause that stops you making 100% of profits from any ventures I believe.

Actually, the correct term would be, you "license" the engine. You aren't flat out buying it from them, but simply paying for the privilege of using their technology.
