And I see it's playing that bizarre song that comes with Windows.

It looks good. Is there a version with more memory?

Being a seasoned MP3 expert, I shall now call you a fool for buying a 128mb player- if you couldn't afford a HD player with 20+Gb on it, then minidiscs are cheaper and easy to copy between MP3 and disc

The problem with minidisc is that you have to convert all your files to atrac during transfer, and this means worse quality.
Don't claim that any one solution has no downsides

I've got an LG 128mb one, its fine for my purposes, I only listen to it on the bus to/from school every day, meaning I can change the music over often.

I've got a Creative MuVo TX 256mb, which I'm reasonably happy with. It
had a horrible problem that it crashed and wouldn't work no matter what
I tried, but after sending it off to get repaired (had only had it a
week or two) it seems fine. Decent sound quality (once I made a custom
EQ - the defaults were rubbish), good provided earphones, and I can fit
on plenty of tracks for what I use it for. Its also utterly tiny, so
its perfect for using when snowboarding or ice skating which was one of
the biggest necessities for me.

I have a minidisk player and I think it sounds just as good as when I'm playing the mp3s on my pc I also preffer it to the micro drive players cos it was cheaper for one and I can just keep buying minidisks for it if need be where as if I fill up the microdrive and want some more songs on then I would have to get another one. But thats not very likey cos I changs the songs on the disks every few months or so.

I'm happy with my 60gb Creative Zen NX Xtra. Thanks to its huge capacity, I can keep all of my songs in high bitrate
