After a kinda crazy year things are finally stable here. I'm working at MicroCenter, which is pretty fun since I like all the people I work with and I get to learn a hell of a lot about computers. It's kinda like CompUSA, but with a lot more stuff and much better customer service.

I want to start mapping again, though I'm kinda torn between Half-Life 2 and Action UT. I've already got some of the basics down with UnrealEd, and I really like the A-Team since I worked with them on Action HL, but I'm not sure I have time to learn a new editor and Maya to boot. HL2 Hammer would be comparatively easy I would think, though the problem is... what to map for? Counter-Strike stinks, and Valve isn't even shipping HL2 with vanilla DM (WEAK I say). What I would really like is to make some TFC: Source or TF2 maps, if those ever come out. I always regretted not getting to make a TFC map, I was too busy with my AHL obligations usually.

Anyway, what do you think? And how is the HL2 Hammer, all that much different from the good old Hammer/Worldcrap of old?

Oh, and Revenant got included in 'chapter 6' of Vampire Slayer, yay for me!

Gee this post seems too naked, how about a picture of GUNTHER just to spice it up?!

hehe thanks guys, missed you too.

we'll see, I might download the SDK tonight or this weekend. I want to at least take a look at it. What are your initial impressions, is it pretty similar to HL1 Hammer?

I played some CS last night with a friend, and it's kinda fun once you a) get used to it and b) find a server where less than half the people are cheating. Still not something I would want to map for, though.

i get past Xmas, and all these computers i am tinkering on, i wanna try my hand at the static program for HL2..

still as it was so recently point out, my grasp on basics is so tenuous, i prolly won't be able to learn this either so..

i am so disappointed there will be no HLDM shipped, that i have almost totally lost interest in the game.

anywho's, i'm glad to see you back jinxy.. BTW i am delivering to mansfield friday morning, why don't you drive down and meet me

Rather than bring it all back up here, most people have posted their thoughts on the SDK in the latter pages of this thread...

'Hoy there Jinx, nice to see an old face back

I'd say map for HL2 (ie wait for TF2 or Source), but your heart always
was with Action - no harm in venturing out into new engines. To be
perfectly honest I wasn't aware UT2K4 had an action mod - might give it
a spin when I get the new computer
