For a start, no, cartoon network does not rule. What it does, i cannot say on a public forum. You americans may get cool stuff, but us brits get absolute s**t on Toonami, such as cut dragonball/z/gt, now i like uncut DBZ, but the other 2 suck. DB is watchable, but not when its cut.

And english anime sucks, i mean come on, what where 4kids thinking when they decided to make the guns fire water?, in one piece.

The only place to get anime is over crappy virus spreading programs like kazaa, and bit torrent, so i wouldnt bother, i would get them from DVD in japan.

Lastly, i dont quite think this has anything to do woth this site, but then, neither does the "what you want for christmas" thread

Both Naruto and Bleach are really good and safe anime, but I'm
afraid they are only fansubbed, so you'll have to be reading to follow
them. Well worth it though, they are two of the best anime series' I've
ever come across. Oh and don't rely on their actual projects pages to
have the latest episodes listed - they put them on the news page and
forget to put them elsewhere it seems.

Diablobasher - this is the general banter forum, its for off topic s**t like this

I've
found that in the last five years dubbing has been improved by leaps
and bounds in general. American DVDs are fine to buy as well. They have
both American and Japanese tracks with subtitles.

Diablobasher,
Toonami sucks balls here as well. Adult Swim shows SOME good anime,
such as Fullmetal Alchemist, which is a incredibly good show, the
dubbing is good, but the voice actors are iffy.

But ... if you're talking about rips ...

edited: shouldnt really link to suprnova, Crono...

has an pretty comprehensive list of what is listed.

And http://62.212.84.26/browse.php?cat=ANIME which is easier to search for the series you're looking for.

The voices for the English dubs of FMA suck so much. The japanese voices just seem to fit the characters more. And no, I'm not really that big of an anime nerd. I swear.

Anime is animated (hence the name) and is a term generally applied to
Japanese cartoons. The comic book form is known as Manga. I wouldn't
say ctrlaltdel is either of those, but it is still damn funny

I don't watch anime because I find it a lot to be dumb but there are several different ones I do enjoy. The way the japanese draw cartoons is different from the rest of use. I like animes because they really express a lot of beauty and creativity in the art department. I can't say much for some of their story lines though.

Yeah, ok. I think you learned your lesson wrong. Anyways, if you like anime for the art well then that's mind boggling, as it is all pretty much the same with very little variety. From the little contact I've had with them it always seemed like the stories were more creative and unique, and much more of a draw than the stupid artwork.

The art is much the same (still very nice if you ask me though), but
the character and location designs seen in anime are normally far more
varied and extraordinary than you would find in any other form of
entertainment.

I am an almost an ultra-nerd. The only thing holding me back is the
fact that I don't play Chess, don't enjoy learning, do not read or play
'card battle games' and do all the other things that stereotypical
nerds engage in.

I like being a nerd, and I embrace it. Long live the nerds pushes up thick-black glasses.

HAHA. I'm not big into Anime either. Anyway, Make sure you don't order USA DVD's if your gonna be watching them in Britain. DVD's are region coded so that anything in the US (code 1) will not work in western europe (code 2 i believe) there are international DVD players that read ALL codes but they're very expensive.

Hey neural, ive seen AKIRA, ive got it on special edition DVD, it rocks.

Hey Vash, i dont wear glasses, but im more nerdy than you (is this a competition?)

Admitedly, i hate to learn, and chess bores me. But, i do play Card games, such as Legend of the five rings, Spycraft, and at a push magic. I even used to play yugioh (british champion  )

I also engage in such activities as Dungeons & Dragons, more commonly reffered to by us nerds as D&D.

And to add to this list, i absolutly love anime, im such a big One Piece fan, i like a bit of cowboy bebop and Outlaw star too. Hikaru no Go i also very good, go is like chess, but more nerdy.

If you havent gathered by now I am a NERD

PS: Those sour little sweets called nerds, anyone remember them? They sucked.

I don't think you should watch good anime in school during lessons. That'd be wasting good anime  !

http://www.animesuki.com/ - here you can find unlicensed series to download using bittorrent. Most of them in japanese though.

Good anime:

Naruto - I like this one, good feeling, storyline and music and lovable characters.

Cowboy Bebop - This one is a masterpiece. Everyone should watch this one. Good

music, characters, story, animations, everything.

Full metal alchemist - A little like Naruto, but aimed for people a few years older.

Hajime no ippo - About boxing. If you like sports series or just want a good anime, take a look at this one.

Hellsing - About vampires. This one is even a little depressing at times.

Chobits - I really like this one ^_^. Comedy/romance/drama about a guy
who finds a "persocon", a robot looking like a human, but with doglike
ears.

Elfen lied - About a girl with special powers. She has invisible
arms that she can use to destroy most thinks in her way. Quite violent.

Well... feel like I could go on forever  .

www.animenfo.com - take a look here to search for anime and manga, ratings descriptions and more.

NO, NOT THE DREADED SWIRLY!!!!!!!!!

High-School....prrrff. We call it "eeeuuurrgghh" or "Secondary" over here, and trust me, swirly (provided the thing is clean" would be heaven compared to the s**t i have to put up with from stupid townies, who can barely speak english, dude, one day, the townies in my area decided that they did not like me, thats when things got bad....

First thing to happen : Got the s**t kicked outta me by a group of people, landed me a week in hospital.

2nd: Egg's thrown at my house, many times oover.

3rd: Got my house broken into, and all my D&D books, and 5 rings cards torn to shreds, as well as several hundred pounds stolen from my mum.

4th: We had to move house.

And to this day, i have decided to grit my teeth, and be as freindly as possible to those with little brain matter, especially the ones that weild knives, "cos uverwize, i is gonna mash you up yo"

But, i maintain my proudness of being a very nerdy person (well i dont really)

I like doing that sort of thing, thats just the way i am.

All this started because , at the time i was a freind with one guy, i asked him if he wanted to play D&D, he didnt like it, told his bro, who told his mates, then the whole neighberhood didnt like me, just because i played something they thought was, uncool.

The Manga rips the movie a new one. It's f**king amazing in comparison. The movie is good and all (and yes it is a MOVIE not purely anime only) but, there's SO much Otomo cut out and changed that really shouldn't have been changed. He just muttled the story up and made it so much more confusing. But, it's still good, just not as good as the Manga.

However, in written comic book form of any kind, I've heard the best ever is 'Watchmen'.

one of my favorite animes is mononoke hime, definitely not
dubbed(ewww... billy-bob thorton). i just love the art in that movie.
Hellsing is also very cool! i have watched the series several times.
akira is best the second time you watch it, then it starts to lose its
appeal/coolness(i have watched it four times) i havent read any manga
though...

on the topic of nerdosity, i consider myself a nerd. i play magic when
i can find someone who plays. i <3 computers! i have some warhammer
40k(though ive never played, the models are cool and fun to paint).
people dont really mess with me though, i am pretty sociable, plus i
help people with their computers. anyway, i was semi-involved in an
anime club at my school(last we watched was wolfs rain, (subbed is a
lot better than dubbed) now im in a game discussion club. its not
really started yet, but we will mostly be discussing games(obviously)
as amateur developers and enthusiasts. being a nerd is something to be
proud of, being ignorant is not. eventually nerdism will be recognized
across the world and we will be idolized! power to the intellectuals!
(though at the current state of leadership and celebrity its seems
being ignorant isnt going out of style soon.)

Mononoke Hime is one of the only english dubbed movie that is dubbed well.
Disney does know how to dub properly.

I'm currently 110mb outta 660mb downloading Ghost in the Shell: Innocence at home. I'm on a 56k connection. The length of time spent dling it at a painful 3-5kb/s I could probably have someone in the USA dl it on a fast connection, burn it and post the damn thing. But then I'm lazy.

Does anybody on this forum actually buy movies and games?

What gets me though is your getting it for free yet you complain about having to wait a few minutes to download your pirated copy.

That wasn't a complaint, it was a "look how dumb i am" post. Its actually the first full movie I've ever downloaded, and basically I just wanted to download something large on a crap connection as a little challenge. I fully intend to by GITS:Innocence when it comes out over here, I don't consider myself as a thief. Its the same for mp3s I download, someone recommends a band, and I download a few tracks, then if I like them, I buy the album.

Don't be quick to snap or troll at my posts for the sake of making yourself look self righteous. You don't.

*Drops the subject.

I'd rather say hours.. or days  . Poor Mephs.

When I had 56k I downloaded a few Naruto episodes. 174mb took just a little more than one night.
