For the past week I have been bored out of my mind more than imaginable. I've just got bk from college and as soon as I got in my mum said that the cable, phone and internet have been put bk on.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW F***ing HAPPY I FELT!

I seriously need to get some more games or something as all I've been doing is playing HL2 and doing some mapping, don't slap me, but it get a bit boring when it's all you can do.

"Bored" is a controllable state of mind, not an unavoidable condition. I bet there are a million things you could do to keep yourself occupied if you spent just a little time thinking about it. I can't remember the last time I was bored.

Maybe bored was the wrong statement, but I was certainly something,
possibly annoyed, but it even if I played HL2, once I had finished
playing that then usually I would go on msn or something, but no! I
couldn't

I cannot comprehend how anyone could be bored from mapping. I've been mapping day and night, during virtually all my waking hours, and I am still obsessed. Perhaps it means that I am a true addict.

I even skip meals for mapping. The only reason I stop mapping is for going to work. Sometimes I go without eating the whole day and map until my brows sweat.

And, true to Tracer Bullet's words, boredom is a state of mind that one has some control over.

Wow, I guess you are an addict! I get bored of mapping after only 3 hours no matter how cool my map looks.

Three hours! You really have a short attention span. I typically spend six to eight hours straight for each mapping session (without even a bathroom break). I've been doing this for two months already, and I am still going strong.
I must be a sick man. Maybe I should take something.

No. It's the same way for me. I just don't map at all anymore because I can't control how much time I spend on it!

Yeah, I know. I got my fiance very mad a few weeks ago because I've spent all night mapping and had her sleep alone. I've made a deal with myself that I would not map when she's around.

And sometimes I wouldn't even turn on my computer because I was afraid that I would start a mapping frenzy and lose all control. I feel like an alcoholic sometimes (or rather mapaholic).

But I think this is true for some of us because we naturally have very high level of serotonin in our brains. It got me through medical school with the same intensity. I used to be able to study for more than twelve hours straight, reading and memorizing even during meal time. I did it for two years without a hiatus. Needless to say, I did quite well in medical school and graduated top of my class.

But now there's no more studying, so I direct my obsession to mapping and gaming.

Id love to be able to map for ages but theres one thing that stops me
from mapping for too long, im a perfectionist when it comes to making
my maps. Ill start mapping, it begins to look good but then something
goes wrong or i just dont like it, ill delete it and start from
scratch. Only ocasionally i finish what im making but its never
anything big, thats why i havent released any maps.

You can't be like that when dealing with life. Otherwise you'll never get married. No one and nothing is perfect. It takes a lot of courage and understanding to accept the imperfection in things and people and appreciate them, even with all the flaws.

Its only when i map, i think i do just get bored of trying to get things how i want them. Hammer seems to freeze and crash all the time on my computer and i allways forget to save my map which puts me off mapping as much as i like it.
