Definately a very unique map. To have the patience to work with displacements to make something like that is an achievement. I imagine this map would consist of some interesting battles. How are your fps on the map considering it is all displacements?

Your map is absolutely beautiful. That's amazing that those are all displacements and that you took the time to smooth out every curve! Also, I think the setting is great and the skybox accents the map perfectly!

Well, after some initial problems with BSPZIP, I finally assembled the final release for my brainchild, dm_agora.

It's set in space, without any explaination of how this ties in with hl2, since it doesn't.

I'm planning another release in a similarly abstract manner. However unlike agora, it will not be 100% displacements.

Thank you.

Looks good, first abstract map for HL2 - you should be proud. How does it run?

Well you do have some competition with dm_tribute, they look very similar, although I think I saw your map first  The problem with these maps is that it's quite easy to fall off if you're not sup4r-1337, though from your screenshots it does look like you've tried to get round that by bunching the map in.

Actually, the maker of dm_tribute played a beta of my map before coming up with his "concept", not that I'm bitter or anything.

I understand the concern and it's true, the map isn't for great scores, but it makes it even more fun, especcially when you're playing with friends having a laugh.

What I really enjoyed was the added air-time included with lower gravity, enabling you to pull off some UT-esque stunts.
Anyway, thanks

Oh another suggestion, put some interesting light sources in (if you think you can afford to) such as spotlights or shades of yellow/blue/green/etc.

Exactly what I was thinking. It looks pretty cool as it is, but it
could be improved with some light sources other than the environmental.

Ok, I gave it a shot for kicks and I'm afraid the results were less than pleasing. I tweaked the lightmaps pretty well, but I never completely managed to hide the fact that this abusal of displacements has some bugs when it comes to lights.

It would hurt performance a little (possibly too much), but something
that might be cool would be to have some sort of floating lights with
parented light_dynamics going round routes around the map. Again it
might cause dodgy lighting issues on the displacements, but could be a
really cool effect.

You should add vehicles, and then you'd have a cool racetrack :D

The map looks great, and despite what people may say, it has great gameplay, best suited for lower numbers of players though

an ideal map for lan parties

This is the first map that i've played that is absolutely suited to 2 person deathmatches. Perfect for those lunch time deathmatches at the office :)

Quite unique i'd say, well done!

This map plays very well. I've got it on my server, and the battles are simply awe inspiring. Though scores are hardly in the double digits because you fall off all the time. :P Brings back memories.

I'd say that this map's Achillies heel is its size. It's a hefty boy at 40 megs, so players don't stick around for the download.
