I just read renos news post about the HLCCL. Is there anyone here that would be interested in starting a clan? I think it would be great fun. Espescially since everone would be mappers =). You dont have to be a godlike aimer or something, we can do it just for fun at first, and if we dont suck as much as we expect, we could get more serious maybe. So how about it?

I used to be in the old HLCCL for HL1, played in a clan called
"Colonial Marines". Also played for a clan called "The Redeemers" for
UT a good while back. Since those days I've only really played non-team
stuff online.

Well I'm currently in an Australian clan for DOD, but I guess I could
do this too. It sounds like a more organised attempt at team snarkpit,
the thing we tried a while back. Hopefully this one will have more
success.

This is great. i dont know how many players there should be in the clan, but the more the merrier. there should at least be 8 or something. We should get some place to hang. an irc channel or anything. maybe a forum if that is possible. Or perhaps this thread is enough =).
I havent got any experiences to brag with. The only thing i can say that i placed third in an unreal2k4 tournament competition once. Without practice =). Other than that i have just played alot of everything since i got my NES at 4 years age.
Any more interested? and what would be the clan name?
EDIT: maybe we could start a dedicated server somewhere? And meet there sometime.
btw, reno, then you should have some experience in that league. could you explain shortly how it works?

I'm all for this being an offshoot of clan snarkpit (I still use the
tag when gaming), unless anybody has any objections. It could be cool
if anybody who even thinks they may want to play sometimes registered
for the clan as well, as that way we can have less need for commitment
as there will probably be at least the required 4 for a match (low
player count for games  ).
Right, as for rules, the league is split into 6 divisions of 8 clans
(provided there are enough clans to fill the league). Games are played
4v4 (I'd prefer it to be higher personally, but it is how it is), with
a game on each of the team's home maps. Winning both your own map and
the opponent's map means your team wins 3 points, winning on one map
and losing the other means a draw so each team gets 1 point. Obviously
losing both maps bags you 0. Once each team has played every other team
in their division, then the top two teams are promoted to the next
division up, and the bottom two are demoted. Home maps must be chosen
from the allowed maps list, though teams can submit maps to be reviewed
in order to be added.

Only 4? damn, thats low. Well, we are 4 now, arent we? But i guess we need a few more.
Yeah snarkpit sounds good to me. I dont think anyone would get upset. Unless we suck, and bring shame to all the snarks =).
Thx for the explanation Reno.
we need a few more atleast i think before we report our clan.
Do you guys want to play tonight for fun somewhere? or some other night?
EDIT: Reno, are you going to give them your map dm_echo. or what was it called? or did the maps have to be team based?

I would love to be in a clan, however i'm only a slightly above average player so I'm not sure I would fit in.

Hehe I wouldn't worry Andrei, I'm very hit and miss, with occasional
good games and occasional bad ones. I think we should play for fun
rather than glory
I can play tonight if you fancy it, we could just invade the HL2CCL
server to see if everybody pings ok on it. Here is the IP if anybody
wants it...
195.224.41.43:27016
That is their permanent server, but on match nights they have 6 servers to cover all the games.
I would submit Echo if it was done, but I'm actually making it for AG2 right now.

Adrenaline Gamer 2, its a mod that I map for. There is a link in my sig
if you care to know more  I'll pop in for a bit, why not.
Oh, and anybody who wants to join, will need to give their steam ID.
You can get this by typing "status" in the console while playing.
EDIT: Wireplay also run two other public HL2 servers, one TDM and one DM. Here are the IP's if people want them...

Crap. My ping is very bad. its sky high. lies around 100. And in HL2 that is very much unplayable. damnit. Im gonna get a new line soon, but i doubt it would make it any better. How is your ping?

I'm in a HL1 clan and we're pretty active, but what I've played of HL2
I've been pretty dominant in. I just think it's a little too slow
for me. But if you're looking for a go-to guy for matches and
such I'd be interested. East Coast USA, though.

I think for the league you really have to be UK or somewhere in the
Europe with a nice connection, as otherwise you just won't ping well on
the servers the league matches are played on

I had a quick blast on station17 on 195.225.41.43:27016.Surprisingly,
it didn't lag at all with 10 players online. I usually play as Comrade Joe.

I don't even want to think about my ping in Australia. Though I do play
DOD with a UK clan occaisionally and do well, even with a ping of 300

For the time being, just here I guess. We'll need your steam ID, which
you can find by typing "status" in the console during a game I'm told.
Seriously though, if you are interested (speaking generally here, not
at you Andrei  ), please check out the server to ensure its playable,
as if it isn't then there really isn't much point in joining for this
league. We could easily enough make several divisions of snarkpit clan
such as SnarkpitEU, SnarkpitAU, SnarkpitUS, etc... and each could enter
leagues suitable to their location if there was enough demand.

Hehe, yeah you to. Its easy to go nuts with the gravgun, especially on that map =). Is it just me, or does it feel like fragstealing everytime you frag someone with gravgun? It doesent feel honorable.
Btw, did you notice the lag-attacks that happened sometimes?

Yeah, I noticed. It was a real lagathon after you left. And I don't
think killing someone with the gravgun is unfair. Besides, it's not a
cheat weapon or anything, and it can easily be dodged if you strafe
alot and keep your distance.

I'm insterested, but I've got dail-up, so I can only really play from a gaming cafe, and even then the ping's not that good (100-200 ms). I can still usually get my name in the top half of the scores though. As for a name, how about Revenge of the Snarks?

Fox: I think 100-200 ping is a little to high, but that is up to you ofcourse.
I think [SP] might work, or maybe [Snark], or i dunno.

I'd offer you a server if anyone can find a rental company based in Central Europe/East Coast US/Canada that is offering HL2DM rentals, i'd be happy to finance or at least part finance (primarily as a testing/development server) a server for the Pit.
I am still hoping to but all the companies I have quizzed have stubbed the idea because of the resources that HL2DM tends to eat server side.

For the old snarkpit clan I think we eventually decided on "snarkpit |
name", but its perhaps a little long for a clan prefix. I often play
CS:S and HL2DM under that name at the moment - its a really clear title
and it gets people asking about what it is. Good advertising
I know I sound like a broken record, but anybody who is interested in playing will need to check that...
a. They can get a playable ping on the servers when reasonably full (check earlier pages for server IP's).
b. They will be able to play matches at the time they are likely to be held (I believe it will be some evening midweek (6-10pm?)
If you can't do these but would still like to be a snarkpit player then
by all means you can, but I think we need to know who can be active for
this league.
