You could always model the Los Angeles McDonalds holdup or do something simmilar. Hostages hang out with ronald, and the T spawn is at one end, CT at the other, ect.

McDonalds has been done, what you need to do first is think about what game you're making it for.
I map for Source, then you need to think if you want an assault/defense mission whatever, think about what kind of maps you like, then browse for ideas of where this type of thing would take place.
And, nobody is going to tell you an idea if they have a good one.

Exactly, if anyone has a great idea, they'll save it for their own map. I had some great ideas earlier, but I'm not sharing them because I don't want my maps to lose their originality when ten or fifteen maps already exist by the time I released them.
And if you're a good mapper, part of being one is having an origninal idea and the technical skill to implement it.

Hmm, what about a highway underpass? If you don't live in LA, it'll be more difficult to visualize the intricate maze of highway underpasses and the turn ramps. I've been wanting to implement this idea, but I am not sure it'll create a good gameplay with reasonable framerates.

Serch google for photos of hostage situations. Look around the real world for some insperation.
Make up a story and design for that. The player dosn't have to
understand what the story is, you dont have to tell anyone but if there
is one 9 times out of 10 it will make your map better becuase it will
seem like your map has a purpose.
You could alway just start mapping, make rooms and hallways then see how they turn out.

Do operation Nimrod... That was a cool situation where the SAS wasted a load of ev0l fewls in a hostage situation by bursting through the windows and s**t. Look on the net for it
If not CS:S then just make a source level in the style of your favourite game, like Quake 2 or Serious Sam or something. Always interesting to see other engines imitating old games.

Well tbh I find that when I have no ideas it is best to just not map at all and do other stuff... Eventually you'll come up with a cool idea at a random time.

This is possibly the second worse way to get ideas (first would be
doing nothing) not many people are going to pull a great idea out of
their rear and give it away.

What you mean foo? They do it the most! They crawl in thier caves for months and emerge with an almost complete map for Orphorization. If anything its the newer mappers who tend to share ideas, but mainly because they need help.
