Final Project in Environmental Design for school. Based on Rivendell.
Current shots have absolutely no texturing done on anything. I"ll
repeat. The current shots have absolutely no texturing done on anything
at all. Everything is just temporary texturing for marking out and
laying out stuff. Have about 2 weeks to finish. I am responsible for
everything except for the interior large building. Everything will be
100% custom made. Enjoy.

Wonderful.

I wonder if you can add a heavy pixel shader glow to really flesh out the Rivendale look. (Don't know if it was implemented in UT)

I'm really liking the central glade, and nice effort with the architecture (though the tall building in #4 looks a bit gormless?). Can you make a skybox or a giant waterfall behind it?

I really like the feel of this map. I think you captured Rivendell well and I think it will be successful for sure!

I love it. I'd like to see it when it's done. Now only if we had pine tree models for HL2.

Edit: Looking at this map reminds me of a place in WoW. It also makes me want to go out and buy UT 2004 so I can use the cool editor.

I got a question. I'm looking into learning how to use the Unreal Ed
myself but I can't decide on which editor to use. Was this map made
using the editor from UT 2003 or UT 2004? Or do they both use the exact
same editor?

P.S. If UT 2004 is newer then why does UT 2003 look better?

Edit: Sorry about bringing the thread back. I guess this post could've done better as a PM.

Errr, why do you say that UT2003 looks better than UT2004? They are
both the same engine (with some tweaks here and there no doubt) - are
you talking about the maps in UT2003 looking better than the ones in
2004 or something? The editor will be identical I'm sure.

The maps in UT 2003 look better. I'd rather use the stuff that comes
with UT 2003 but then again those 2004 vehicles look tasty. Is there a
way to get all the textures and models from UT 2003 and get them
without having to buy both games?

UT2004 included everything from 2003 I believe (including maps,
textures, sounds, etc...), so if you have 2004 you should have the lot.
UT2003 was essentially made redundant after 2004 came out - there is no
reason whatsoever to buy 2003 if you have 2004.

Gameplay in 2004 sux compared to 2003- they fiddled with loads of minor things and its just not as good...

And gameplay in UT2k3 sucks compared to UT classic.

I agree that the original UT was the best, but I've enjoyed them all
personally. I didn't notice much difference between 2003 and 2004, and
I don't see why anybody would unless they were fairly hardcore into it.

Looks a bit like your 2004 comp map, fairytale  Don't know why though...

The only thing I would suggest, is that 2 of those screenshots,(5 and 6) the hills and river look a little jagged -- see if they can be smoothen out.
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

since this is my first map on the UT engine who cares!

I'd suggest you make some grass clumps or at least have some extra detail around the pillar bases touching the ground, they look quite dull and soooo early-2000's
