http://www.30gigs.com/ gives every user 30 GB of inbox space...

It's a gmail style invite-only thing at the moment, and it's still in Beta. I can't see any new/useful features:
 • They give you the option of creating folders, but that's about it.

 • I don't know about the spam blocking capabilities, since I havent received any spam on it yet.

 • I don't see any folder rules or any such thing

 • You can't use your 30G for webspace
 • The interface is odd

The only good thing about this is that it claims to offer 30G of space,
although I'm not able to imagine what anyone could do with that much
space.

We can probably do what we did for gmail and set each other up for
invites if needed. You get 7 to start with, so post/PM your email if
you want one.

I'm currently using 69 MB (3%) of my 2666 MB Gmail account inbox, so I don't think I'd ever need that kind of storage capacity.

Likewise. I don't really like switching me email address too much, and
while I felt it was worth going for gmail (as at the time my only other
was hotmail...bleh), I don't feel the same about this one. As with
Otzman, I just don't use enough of my gmail inbox to justify changing
for one even bigger.

Actually I've started doing something very cunning. If I need to store stuff or transport data I don't use memory sticks and crap- they can break easily. If you email yourself with all the stuff attached, and in the email list as many words as you need that relate to it. Then when you need to find the data you merely use the gmail search to find it, and you can give all your stuff labels.

Main thing I use it for is work, transporting it from my laptop to a university computer to print it out. I predict online storage is where its at. I actually used to use my pit to do the same thing. I use around 15% of my gmail inbox, and I reckon its gunna fill up, but I'm sure if you do you can request more space.

Myrk, you might want to look at
GMailFS.
It lets you write to your gmail inbox directly from your linux machine.

I've been doing that with my email account for more than ten years now. It's nothing new.

My email through my ISP is at maybe 25MB, and I've had that for at
least 3 years now. I don't put large files through email though.

Ditto, except for the ten years part.

I'm pretty sure someone said something about using GMail for online file storage.... I could be wrong though

Edit: A windows app for the same thing, for the lesser privileged.
