Hey all,
I'm making a mod and I want to make a curved hall a U turn but every time I try I get leaks, could someone wright a short tutoral or just tell me?

I'd suggest using the Arch tool for the outside curve, but Orpheus's method would work aswell.

Vertex manipulation can be the god of mapping if you stick to useing triangles to avoid invalid brushes. try it out. make the floor of your hallway with triangles, and manipulate it into the shape you want. it's a high poly method, but that often doesn't matter in small areas.

I have a really sexy hallway that I did up a while ago that curves, with a bordered ceiling and a border on the floor. When I have time, I'll write up a tut for it.

I'd also recommend using the arch tool - I find it easier to create complex curves and it cuts down on the required vertex manipulation, if any is needed at all.

and it was decided that dietz's curves are more right than mine.. use those.

Arches and cylinders are fine, you just need to realign the verticies to grid. they still save time.

Place a cylinder so that it gives the curve you want, then use this as a guide for manipulating the wall brushes to match up to it, before deleting the cylinder.

I realize that the arch tool is powerful, and that there are a lot of
tut's that use it, but are there any tutorials speficically set on how
to use the arch tool? When it comes to curves thus far, I've been
building them all by hand D:
Decided to add this to the heap since there's so much discusion on the arch tool =P
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

Turning an arch on its side and a bit of vertex manip can create some pretty cool curves.
You would need to use multiple arches, assuming you wanted things like bases and trims, but it could be done relatively easy. Look at my Double_Trouble map. It had many vertex manip'ed arches.
