ok this might just be a very a very stupid question but wot the heck is this origin texture i keep reading about ??

i need my fans to rotate on the spot not round the centre of the map

ok, first make a small cube and texture all the sides with the origin texture (you should be able to find this using hammer)

Place the center of this cube exactly where you want the fan to spin at. Now tie both the "fan" and the origin cube to a func_rotating.

The fan will spin around the middle of the origin cube.

All the origin texture does, is tell the engine where you want a particular entity to rotate around.

Every solid entity that spins needs an origin brush. Func_trains always need one, even if they don't spin.

Actually func_trains can spin too. It's called angular velocity and
although it has only been used in Blue Shift it works with regular HL
too.

i dont remember a spinnin train in blue shift :S .... mind u i was very disapointed at the length of blue shift ... it finishs befor it even starts
