I have seen alot of maps with the name of the mapper floating around. How do you do that, is it a custom model? I more or less want to add my own touch of flare to the map, and would appreciate the help of anyone who replys to this thread.

Most of the ones I've seen are just made out of brushes. You could make a model, or make a texture and put it in a small inaccessable room that you can only get to via spec or noclip. I'm personally against putting your name or clan or whatever 50 feet high floating in the air... but hey, whatever floats your boat. My recommendation would be to put a small room where the only way to get to it is noclipping, you can check out CSS de_chateau for an example (it's at bombsite A), and it even fits the theme of the map in that case. Or you could make a white texture with text and put it in a white room outside your map, just make sure to bspzip the custom material. Or behind a displacement. It doesn't have to be a giant floating billboard, in any case.

My favorite "easter egg" of all time is the one in cs_office. Behind the breakable wall is a hamster with "fear" underneath. So great.
But yeah, I vote for secret room with a custom texture.
