I can't remember if anyone has mentioned it around here in the past, but incase anyone hasn't heard about it, Square are currently making a film sequel to FFVII. Plot details aren't known, although they have said that it is set 2 years after the game ends, and a disease known as the Star Scar Syndrome is affecting most of the population. Whether it kills them or not isn't yet known. So far the list of characters confirmed as being in in some form or another (ie. possibly just flashbacks) are Cloud, Sephiroth, Aeris, Barrett and Vincent. There are a few new characters as well that nothing has been said about. Its said it will be about an hour long, its entirely CG, will only be released on DVD, and will have around 20 characters in total.

Anyone interested in finding out more about it, I point to this site. I post here a lot...

http://www.adventchildren.net

And here are two trailers - the first is higher quality, but the second is longer...

http://www.oddworld.au.com/temp/ff7xplayhigh.wmv

http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~nanko/movies/ff7ac-jf.wmv

Anyone else looking forward to this as much as me?

It is kinda old news, although the second trailer is only just out today. I figured I should just post this incase any FF fans hadn't heard about it yet.

I love the fight scenes, they look really artistic, and the camera work is really nicely done. I really hope all of the playable characters from the game feature, would be a bit disappointing if most of them had died from the SSS. Oh and of course, if Reno makes an appearance I'll be a happy chappy

wasn't FFVII on the PS2? I seem to remember making fun of my friend when he was playing it. I said it was a dating simulator for shy, ugly losers

Since 7 was one of the FF's I really didn't like, I'm not really interested in this movie.

On the flip-side, FFVII was my favourite FF. Although it's interesting to note that the trailers they released a while back don't actually have anything to do with the Advent Children story. They were just there to show a little eye-candy. I kinda thought Sephiroth's hair was a bit too whispy for my tastes...made him look too feminine. Oh well, I'll see when the actual movie comes out. And Jinx, it's on the original PS.

Square did say that none of the trailer footage was going to be used, however the new trailer they released shows new footage, which people presume is actually FROM the film, mixed in with the old stuff, so its all a tad confusing.

Jinx, do you say that to ALL RPG's by any chance?

Edge, its kinda unusual for FFVII to be one of the least favoured FF's, most people have it amongst their favourites. Just outta curiousity, which is your favourite?

Well it doesn't seem like that many of you are interested, but in case you are, here is a link to download a high res version of the advent children trailer being shown at E3. Currently you can only download this from Gamespot and things if you have premium memberships, but a guy at the Advent Children forums uploaded it kindly. Dunno how long it will be up - Square already told a few other people to stop hosting it online, so grab it quick if you want it

Its got a fair amount of new content from the last ones, its much higher quality, and its a far better trailer. Hefty file size though, over 50mb!

Already told him months ago  Read my post up there.

As for the movie, I downloaded the high-res one and looked at the new pictures. I'm really looking forward to it.

Personaly, although chrono will argue, I thought ff7 was great, I did hear about a sequal to the game, but then it turned into a movie. It'll be good (I think) due to the great story line that 7 had, speaking of which I godda get a move on that game (I play it once every year) exams have been keeping me from the fun for the past few days. Thanks Reno, OHH thats what the sequal to ff7 was, it was the whole incident told from the perspective of the turks, but then I think they decided to go with a movie instead.

And I do believe I read somewhere else that the sequal to ff7 Will have sepheroph (I hate spelling  ) in it.

:dodgy: Damn straight I would normally, but I'm cutting back ... not to mention I've already stated my opinion on this series ... it doesn't need to be heard again ... I'd hurt all the square-fanboy-ears

However, ENIX kicks ass. And they're bringing square titles back to par.

Secondy, my screen name isn't the Greek word for 'time' so get rid of the 'h'

(by the way, omega, "Sephiroth" is how you spell it, and he's bad ass, the only good part of that game.)

There is also a mobile phone game about the Turks, called "Before Crisis", that is being made. It looks a bit crap, and I'm annoyed they decided to further the backstory of my favourite character with it

They're still debating on whether to make a sequel game or not. Personally I'm for it, since I have FFX-2 and it was a hell of a lot of fun. If they do make an FFVII sequel I'd rather them stay in the realm a little more, or explain some characters a bit better such as Zack (Zach? I can't remember, been a few years since I played.)

I hate the people that hate this game sheerly on the fact that there are fanboys/people who like it. "I'm going to hate this because people like it, and somehow that makes me original."

Speaking of Final Fantasy...

If you would have told me 6 months ago that I would not be mapping for Half-Life deathmatch any longer or even be playing Half-Life in 6 months...I would tell ya that you were nuts.

Final Fantasy XI Online has impressed me and consumed all my Half-Life time. I havent opened Hammer in over 4 weeks (when 6 months ago, I was pumping maps out left and right)...and have not even played any HLDM in as many days.

Just thought I'd take this opportunity to share a moment with you fellow Final Fantasy fans and tell ya that if you can afford a $12 a month fee and are into MMOPRGs...get FFXI...because it is, by far, the best game I have ever played.

FFX-2 is fun, and I probably prefer it to X, but the game is so damn easy. The end bosses all died in under a minute each and my characters aren't even hugely powerful. If FFVII gets a sequel game, I'd hope there would be some challenge to it, as VII had its fair share of tough bosses.

MMORPG's don't really tempt me as they require a credit card to pay, and I'm avoiding using mine at all costs. If I was going to get into one, it would probably be either FFXI or True Fantasy Live on the Xbox however - both appeal to me much more than traditional MMORPGs like Everquest and Ultima Online.

sorry typo. And as for Zack, he wasnt a character you could play, but if you dig deep, you can visit his parents in that jungle area where you get the titan materia, and you also find out that Aeris dated him once, and if you go down into the basement of that mansion where sephiroth went mad, you can view a hidden flashback  . If anything they should have explained Cloud's memory of that town burning down, and having it be back when you visit it later on.????

Ohh and did anyone enjoy Kingdom Hearts as much as me? (although I still dont get how disney characters and ff characters can interact)

Shinra rebuilt the town to cover it up, and hired actors to populate the town if I remember correctly. Thats why none of the people there remember who Cloud is - they didn't live there until after he had left.

I've never played Kindgom Hearts, should really get around to it sometime.

The game has many meanings depending on how you take it. I've seen all those flashbacks etc. But I thought he was a cool character.

Thanks only makes me shutter at how evil Shinra really is, and in my opinion the future will resemble a bit of the FF7 senario (Midgar and all).

As for kingdom hearts, its really good (if you like action/rpg), and since they are making a sequal to it in the mere future.

Sorry for bringing back this old thread, but for anybody who is
interested you can view the new trailer with sound and all at the
Square website. If you take this direct link to the flash file you can
view the trailer at a larger size than the site normally forces as
well...

On the note of strange games or anime films, did you all know that theres a feature film of Neon Genesis Evangelion being made? As in real life filming. Its budget is said to be about the same as Matrix 3 (100 million ish). Should be damn sweet, but its not out till like 2007 or 2009... :-/
