STEAM account Hijacker gets proffesionaly pwned.

I found this rather interesting article on www.theregister.com.

Total pwnage!

"A 13 year-old skid'iot who tried to pinch another user's Steam account via MSN was tricked into handing over his account details instead.

Steam is the online content delivery platform developed by Valve and used to manage games including Half-Life.

The prospective mark turned the tables on the would be attacker by claiming he worked for Valve and demanding his account details, which the frightened teen dutifully handed over.

I saw this posted on another forum, it's "real" (as real as the internet can guarantee).

Real or not, it's just what I'd expect Frohman to do. Quite funny, if a bit sad. Sad because people actually fall for tricks like this, and sad because there's people bent on stealing accounts.

Oh well. I guess such people can't legally play games like Half-Life 2 anyway due to age, so it might be an effective method of filtering them out and learning them a lesson at the same time... :smile:

Isn't steam quite effective in finding and blocking stolen serials quickly? I think that means that the person who the account has been stolen from gets locked out, too. But it doesn't make much sense to try and steal information like that in the first place.
