It's quite surprising that this is actually NOT a conspiracy theory.

F*cking eh.. Stupid American government. Why they try to
control everything is a mystery to me. Just last week I was
reading a post in a different forum about the government trying to gain
control over the entire internet, claiming that America should own it
since it was originally developped for DOD way back when.

Sounds bogus, I don't think non-comericial printers are capable of
printing that small. Plus, look at some of the other articles...

Just another thing they track. Not surprising and rather inefficient. Think about it, do you honestly think they check every piece of printed paper .. ever? No. It would only be useful, to them, if they were finding counterfeiters or someone that's actually a nuisance to them.

Of course, the entire idea of back door deals and such is ... disturbing, to say the least. It should be no sweat off anyone's back unless they're deep in some incredibly illegal activity, in which case, you'd probably know about the 'checks'. Think about this though: if they gather information on everyone, all the time, how are they going to realistically go through it? That computability is like nn or something like that. It'd probably take years to sift through everything, so chances are they don't check much, unless they start down a path to track a specific individual for whatever reason.

Conspiracy theories are funny because you have to wonder ... why would the government care about a specific individual if they show no sign of a following? They wouldn't, is the answer.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

The internet was created in the United States. It originated from a project called the ArpaNet from the Defense Department.

The first four nodes of the internet were UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford, and Rutger's, I believe. And I think it went online in 1969 or something.

I am sure I can cofirm the facts with a Google search, but Crono can do that for me.

Unfortunatly, the rumours that Dell ships it's laptops with keyloggers are fake. Oh how I wish
this stuff was true though. It would give me yet another reason
to hate the American government, and would also be quite the legal
issue considering I am outside their country, and therefore outside
their juristiction and their laws.

I looked up and confirmed what I briefly stated above. The birth of the internet occurred primarily at UCLA, my alma mater (where I went to college and where I trained to become a pediatrician).

I am so proud to be a part of the school that gave birth to the internet.

Yeah I'm taking CS 101 (I flunked the midterm in case you're wondering) and that's something we learned. Pretty sweet.

As for the the copier thing... that's just weird and I don't really know how I feel about it.

I bet whichever governmental branch organized this is pissed off at this so called "Electronic Frontier Foundation."

The World Wide Web is not the Internet.

The world wide web is the system of interlinking web pages, which you view using a web browser.

The internet is the system of servers and connections which connects computers all around the world. The internet has many uses, including the world wide web, email, instant messaging and of course online gaming.

I have heard, but not confirmed that in the USA they will shortly be adding a DNA sample to the drivers license test/renewal.

This will help out on crimes of all kinds. The part that I heard about was littering in particular. The litter problem in the US is so bad that the government is willing to spend almost anything to eliminate it. Of course, like all things I can foresee its abuse as well.

Anyway, thats a rumor I heard recently.
There is no history until something happens, then there is.
