Before someone else puts this in a less helpful manner....
Lets celebrate how we bought this land with beads, and trinkets..
Don't you mean, "Let's celebrate how we bought this land with blood and buffalo"?

But that is not the point. All history is blood if you go back far enough. Just because someone celebrates Thanksgiving does not mean that he celebrates the history (just as many of the people who celebrate Christmas do not celebrate Christ).

Happy Thanksgiving, and don't forget to make Snark stock

That part was a joke, And I was referring to how as the settlers came over they traded Colorful beads, and trinkets to the indians for the land.. The indians felt that you can not own land, it is there for everyone.

I dont celebrate that, I celebrate and give thanks for all I have. My Friends, my family, and how lucky I am to have what I do.

I am also thankful to be apart of this community of many minds, and talents. To be able to share thoughts and ideas with the smartest of you and the smart-ass's too.

My grandmother passed away last week, and we put her to rest on Monday, and even there I have reasons to be thankful.. I am thankful she died the way she wanted, at home in her chair, and that her death was fast and painless. I am thankful she is with her husband, sisters, and best friends, regardless of religion or how U think, I am thankful she is free of burden and pain.

I have 3 kids, whome I love very deeply, I am thankful for each of them, I am thankful I was blessed with a wonderful wife, and a marriage that has been though the tough times and stayed stable and strong.

I could go on and on.. But just knowing I have reason to be thankful, and to celebrate today is and should be good enough for you all. I also wish that each of you have as many if not more reason to be thankful this day and everyday... I wish you could sit at my table and share stories and dine on the feast before you. Were making Deep Fried Snark.. Uhmmm Yummy!

It's not about killing turkeys with shotguns. We have machines to do that now  . It's about being thankful for the years good fortunes. Also a time to get together with family and friends.Don't you have any silly holidays like this in your strange land?

No, no, Christmas is where you worship the capitalist deity known as Santa while buying various useless items to give to others and wrapping them in coloured paper. You can also offer a "plate of cookies" supposedly to raise Santa's favor.

Saint Nick is a Patron Saint from Ireland I do believe.. But that is a little ways away..

Hey! Not all the presents are useless... My guitar effects pedal is still runnin' smoothly from 2 years ago

Santa is an anagram of Satan, so I don't worship him. I hate to say it, but I disagree with your description of christmas

Yah, unfortunatly, the christ was removed from christmas years ago by capitalist pigs, but to most people it still means a good thing. Even Buddhists and Hindus use the holiday as a means of becoming more Americanised. I love all the year end holly-daze. It is a way to reflect and look forward at the same time. What in the world could possibly be wrong with having a good time? Make fun if you will, it's all about people coming together....mostly.

Christmas is obviously originally a Christian thing, but the date itself derives from an earlier Roman/pagan festival which the early Church 'changed' into the birth of jesus to make their new religion more acceptable to people...

And yes, it is becoming more commercialised and 'American' as time goes on, but thankfully it doesn't seem that people have lost the peace & love idea of it yet
