Orph intends to start a mapping competition, Morph (AtM  ) is going with the second modelling compo.

How about combining one and another? A gameplay-focussed map, where inventive gameplay scenario's are key, 1v1 or 2v2 or such to keep it small... and a model pack to give the winning map a decent look? We could extend it to create some textures perhaps as well.

Just throwing in an idea here. Is there any animo left for such things here?

Although you have every right to begin your own thread, no one here would have thought badly of you had you posed this idea in either of the existing threads you mentioned.

I have no issues with your idea, but I also would be as open to any others, yet to be mentioned.

\I don't want to spread people too thin with too many competitions, and I'm fine with postponing the second CCC to allow people to focus on a new Snark Pit mapping competition.

I see absolutely no reason to justify scaling down the activity around here. If a site as well known and as old as we are cannot handle two of anything, we should just pack it in and quit.

I don't think that they will necessarily clash in terms of date anyway. I imagine it will be at least a few weeks before any new mapping contest gets underway, so if AtM was planning on shortening the next CCC to just a 2 week affair, it could easily be done and dusted before we get started on the mapping.

I thought part of the point of having competitions was to get the SP mapping/creating again... If it's reduced to a token attempt at that, well, see Orph's post.

That's decided then. 3 more days and I'll fire up the new CCC. I still need to sort out the download for the first one too.

That's what I thought, too.
