Be helpful if some people could translate the following text for me into French/German/whatever and further prevent noobism and the like in the editing forums :smile:

Online translators dont work, they dont take tenses and so forth into account properly.

Forceflow was on the right track, just not completly on it. Did you use a translator or are you partly frensh yourself?

French is supposed to be my second language :razz:

(In belgium, 3 languages are spoken: Dutch, French and German. Dutch is my 1st language, French my 2nd and German my 3d.)

I thought they spoke Flemmish (saaain) as well in Belgium, like a dutch/french hybrid?

Yeah, Flemish, but that's (except for some points) exactly the same as Dutch.

I didn't use an online translator, just tried to get a sentence in French that expressed the same thing. :biggrin:

That's why I started with "C'est impossible" ... it means the same as "It's impossible". And if I h?d to translate "You can not" litteraly, I would prefer using "Vous", that's more polite. "Tu" is for friends and for people you know personnaly.

Yours worked, but wasent sentenced/worded all that well.

Me on the other hand, Im supposed to be Frensh first English second. But its not that way anymore. Im also starting to self-teach myself Russian :dorky: lol I know...

Not too sure about "buscando", there's probably a word for "web site", and I made it two sentences - the second one may not be grammatically correct.

I prefered Forceflow's translation; it is more complete. You are skipping some details WildCard. I propose this one: "Vous ne pouvez pas poser de question dans ce forum avant d'en avoir bien cherch? la r?ponse dans les archives du site; vous ?tes donc emmen? ? la page de recherche".

"Forum" exists in french since it's a latin word; No need to translate it.

I speak 3 languages :Arabic, French and English.(Most schools in Lebanon teach Arabic + French or English, or both, like my school) I would have proposed an arabic translation, but i don't have arabic office, so i'd have to write it backwards with "Insert Symbol" in MS Word (and that sucks!!).

Yeah, you better make sure you have a good grasp of that before you go to France. If you use "tu" form with some random old stranger in Paris, you won't likely get much respect.

Kain's translation looks pretty comprehensive and correct from what I can read.

That's right, campaignjunkie. I've been to Paris last year for 2 days, and you really learn how to use the language there, instead of studying those damn vocabulary lists all day :razz:

the only difference, other than wording, is that I say you cant post without first looking for the answer. Forceflow says you cant post without first looking in the site archives. To me, that isnt much of a difference. And there are still spelling mistakes in his translation.

But why are we arguing ? Kain's translation is perfect, that's the translation we need.

His also has spelling mistakes. Also, forum IS a frensh word, but isnt exactly the same as forum in english. At least not its primary meaning.

Being a French-learner myself (with a bit of shame... just kidding :biggrin: ) I was going to post my own, but you fellows have done a damn fine job yourselves.

Could you use any Indian languages Lep? I can try a Hindi translation, if it would be of any use to you. As a GIF, or something, so that fonts aren't needed. If you think it would be useful, just say so.

You can't put a *.gif file in a warning box, I think.

I suppose you will need some kind of font pack or whatever to read this, but I assure you It works in cyrrilic encoding.

That's... erm... understandable :biggrin: , but better would be:

"Ohne vorher die Seite nach ihrem Problem durchsucht zu haben, k?nnen sie kein neues Thema erstellen. Daher werden sie jetzt zur Suchseite weitergeleitet."

A Russian/Indian translation would be great, but no, you can't put images into javascript prompts (or Unicode) so sadly they won't work :/ We'll see if I put in more multilingualness though!
