I think you'd be best off reading a basics of compiling tutorial. Before hlbsp can run, hlcsg needs to run to build the hull files. Then hlvis needs to optimize the bsp file and hlrad needs to light the bsp file. These programs won't work simply by double clicking their icons - they use something called a 'commandline'. You'll probably need a program that runs the programs for you. Hammer can do this, so can a few other third party programs. This whole process is known as compiling.

Well, I do remember this guy posting help for other stuff and looking at his snarkmarks, I'd say this isn't his first compile. Its most likely an error in his map. But its like saying my head hurts, there is a million reasons why somebody's head can hurt. Post your compile log for starters.

You didn't consider, you know, reading this? CSG didn't finish because of an error.

"Plane with no normal" is an error which means that one side of a brush is majorly broken. (A normal is a line that's perpendicular to the entire plane, having a plane with no normal is a geometrical impossibility.) Potentially you clipped it funny or somesuch. You have to go to Entity 21, find out what it is (a brush-based entity of some sort), delete it and make that one entity from scratch.

Go get zoner's compile tools. Your first mistake was using hlbsp.

hlbsp IS zoner's. The box compile tool is actually qbsp, for quake.

For advanced purposes, I recommend Merl's or Cagey's tools though. They're even better than Zoner's (one of them fixes a clipping error that's been in the tools since Quake...)

I can't find Cagey's just this second... his domain registration has lasped and I see a cute little puppy when I try to go to his site. Merl's can be found here

Edit: Ooooh, this website is good. Apparently even Cagey left a few errors in.

I recommended that latest version of the tools (3.4). They where finished on the 25 of Feb 2006. This one has the most features and has the most bug fixes.
