So why aren't Valve's special agents in Russia right now trying to 'persuade' the perpetrators to stop selling stolen leaks? I mean, surely, it's Valve's job to enforce copyright laws halfway across the world.

Myeah, we've seen b?ta's from the stolen code around, so we might have heard this coming.
Anyway, this 'll be hard for Valve.

This is kinda old news... they are just selling what was originally leaked as the full game.

Im sorry but Valve must be really dumb to let themselves be attacked like this. Heck by the time all this stuff gets settled, HL2 will have been pushed back so far that they will have to delay it some more because their source engine and graphics will be out of date...

All they had I think was the 30 minute or so trailer showing off the engine and AI capabilities. I dont think they had any "playable" stuff then.

I think what they meant was that who ever 'finished' the game from the leaked code fixed all the problems except the storyline plot holes.
On another note. I don't think they're pushing back condition-zero. . . . . . Has anyone else noticed they shinney new stragity guides and walk throughs showing up in game stores?
I say tenbajillion copies at EBX, I thought it was odd that they had stragity guides out for a game that technically doesn't have a release date, but then again they take everything out of the cases and sacrafice like 10 games for display, until they decide to sell then used.
[EDIT]
Wild: no, they had more. I know a few people who've downloaded it (I hit them don't worry lol), and they explained that for the most part it looked like the Demo they showed, but the game-play was horrible, because it was chopy. As was the visual elements. He claimed there were "black holes everywhere, literally". As for the actual BSP Stuff, the hacker (list alias' here) took what was done.
However, another thing he said was that it settled doubts he had and insured his purchase of Half-Life 2 when it does come out. It also 'fed' his hunger for HL2, even if its only for a little while.
[/EDIT]

No. We prefer not to d/l evil leaked stuff. Encouraging that stuff is what is giving Valve all this trouble and delaying games etc.
Yes, I think if they delay it any longer than about July this year, they'll have to think about upgrading some parts of the engine, hence delaying it more

This is a common market overseas, and it's not just HL2 that encounters this sort of piracy. HL2 just happened to make the news because of all the flurry about the leaked source. There were full-quality DVDs of Return of the King on sale in places before the movie was even released, or at the very least within hours of the first showings.
