I really want to try adding a weapon to CoD. but I need to learn to model the gun 1st, I have maya free edition but honestly dont know where to start.
I know a few of the people here model, so please make available all the urls to tutorials you know of & any other info you can think of which may be useful to a n00b like myself.
Thanks in advance.

for Maya, the video tutorials at 3dbuzz.com are one decent option. There's a pretty large set there, and they're not too bad.
That's really the best I can recommend, the rest of my learning is being done one-on-one with my project lead for my contract job, and there's really no way I can ship him off to you
Oh, and, ah... NW texture demo?

Korny, i have no experience really with Maya....but autocad is my lifeblood for work, and i use 3dmax in conjunction with it.....ill ask a few people for some help, and see if i can come up with something for you...i also have milkshape, the paid for version, and ive dinked around with that a bit....one thing tho, the terminology and general functions are actually about the same in maya and 3dmax....soooooo....

If Milkshape doesn't, they will probably add support for it by the next update. The program is quite difficult to crack, however. (Did I say that out loud?)

I've started learning Maya, and the first thing I found out is that you cannot export to anything with PLE. maybe COD has some special deal going I don't know about...? anyway. there are "free" versions out there which work quite nicely  . I use milkshape to convert the files.

Only way Gmax will export is if Infinity Ward decides to develop a "game pack" for it (not likely) or maybe you can find some sort of Maxscript for it. You could export it as a .md3 and convert to CoD, but that would likely require... Milkshape. Which is only $20 USD (yeah, it's not exactly very little, but it's not too much either, for working with 20+ different games) Stingy bastards!
