First off I'd like to thank Dahl for including the .prt, .vmf, and .vmx files. I don't know what I'd do without them! These have no business being zipped with the map and their presence is probably the ultimate sign of a clueless mapper. I should have known better and stopped right there, but I decided to bravely push on and load up the map. Boy did I ever regret it.
The first thing I noticed was the 3d skybox, which was covered in that lovely purple and black checkerboard texture, signifying that there are missing textures. It's supposed to send a message to the mapper that something's wrong, not serve as a ground texture. This skybox consisted of some terrible displacement hills and wasn't clipped off, so I managed to jump into the void. The next thing I noticed was that my framerates were in the teens, probably because either VIS wasn't run or there were a bunch of unfixed leaks. The map is absolutely huge, with gigantic towers and one big ass building. There was a litany of other errors and problems, from lighting errors and small gaps between brushes to tons of powerful weapons next to each other and about 30 explosive barrels bunched into a corner of the outside area. There are two towers (!) that have ladders that must be about 3000 units long, but at least they work properly, which is something that can't be said about many other maps. Once you reach the top you're treated to some awful colored lighting, and you'll probably want to just jump into the skybox at this point. I'd rather not go on.

Download this and you'll feel much better about your own mapping skills.
Pros
The ladders seemed to work...

Everything else!

Can't you do it yourself when you start HL2 Deathmatch from Steam? One of the options in the start screen is "create new server" or something like that. I did it last night, and it seems to work.

Sorry, I've taken this discussion from (the wrong category to begin with) hosting server to buttock hygiene.
See how easily I digress?

I have webspace to upload it to. All I really want is to find a
place that will host it so I can play it along with other people.
Can I do this on my website? Its only a small space (100Mb)

I do have broadband. If I create my own server can I play my map as well as be the host of the game? If so how?

If you post your map at a general HL2 site and it's decent enough I'm certain you can get some sucker to offer to play your map on a server.
