OMFG this is the best tv show EVER.

Nearly a decade ago, a man's fantasy became reality in a form never seen before, Kitchen Stadium, a giant cooking arena. The motivation for spending his fortune to create kitchen stadium was to encounter new, original cuisine, which could be called true, artistic creations. To realize his dream, he started choosing the top chefs of various styles of cooking, and he named his men the Iron Chefs, the invincible men of culinary skill. Iron Chef Japanese is Masaharu Morimoto, Iron Chef French is Hiroyuki Sakai, Iron Chef Chinese is Chen Kenichi, and Masahiko Kobe is Iron Chef Italian. Kitchen stadium is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges of master chefs from all over the world. Both the Iron Chef and challenger have one hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day. Hmmm... never heard of it. If it came to Australia a while ago, than maybe it will come to Sweden in 5 years or so. Or never.

It's actually incredibly funny... They treat it just like a sporting event- complete with instant replays of intensely mundane things (like a chef chopping an onion, or flipping a crepe or something). It's quite a hoot to watch though.

Yeah it does sound rubbish. But good rubbish! We'll probably get it in like 12years or something.

I remember hearing about it on Geeks In Space, but that's as far as my experience with it goes.

I watch it all the time on Food Network (yes, Americans have a network dedicated to food, imagine that :biggrin: ) and I love it. The whole presentation and stuff just really has a certain charm that I can't resist. If none of you have ever seen it, you're really missing out on something. It really makes cooking a lot more exciting. :smile:

Basically, there's 3 Iron Chefs that dominate in certain cuisines (Japanese, Chinese, and French) and other chefs from around the world come and challenge them in Kitchen Stadium. They have 1 hour to work with a randomly selected theme ingredient (ranges from tuna, to rice, to potatoes, to carrots, etc.) and they do some really remarkable things (one guy carved a pagoda out of a carrot). Then their dishes go on a taste-test with Japanese celebrities and they comment on the food and rate it. Then someone is crowned the champion! Watch it! Love it! :smile:

Ya as much as I hate to admit it, I watch FOOD TV also, and I enjoy it. Iron Chef is fun, I mainly watch it to see how they sabatoge eachother's dishes .

Food Network also exists in Canada, I've watched Iron Chef for the last 5 years or so. A new show that I'm also very fond of is Most Extreme Elimination Challenge...now that's one of the few shows today (Trailer Park Boys being the other) that actually warrants me watching it.) Fun times I say.

The carrot pagoda was uber!

Chairman Kaga is damn funny, especially when he unveils the ingredient. You can't understand how funny it is unless you actually watch the show.

I love how they dub over everyones voice BUT HIS. They just subtitle his. It's so odd.

Can't wait to see it.

Heheh, I love the most extreme elimination challenge. That thing is bizarre with a capital L

I think he demanded that his voice not be dubbed over. His voice seems to be dubbed over in some parts / episodes though. It elevates him above the others, in a way, I suppose. :smile:

I understand why they did it. It's just appeals to my juvinile sense of humer, is all :razz:

They only dubbed Kaga's voice for the first couple of episodes they translated, then they realised how funny his real voice is, so they just subtitled it.
