Lately, I've been doing some concept-art for the 'State Of Unrest' mod for HL2.  Sofar, I have created about 4 images, with another few in the works, and more planned down the line.

Usually, when I do these drawings in Photoshop, I just keep it to 2 layers, and work it up kinda like you would a real painting.   With this drawing, however, I kept making big changes, and kept each successive work-over to it's own layer.  In the end, I had a nice chronology of the drawings progression, and thought it would be fun to show the process.

I will probably end up taking the drawing a little further, but the point it's at right now is pretty close to done.

Thanks Grimlock, the feeling is mutual.  I only wish I hadn't waited so long to really get focused on my art.  I loved it as a kid, lost it in my early twenties (girls, booze, music, girls...girls), back in love with it now.

Here's some other images for 'State of Unrest'.  These aren't quite as polished, but still fun.

 - Money, I didn't really use any reference for the soldier pic.  I'm sure I have been influenced by alot of images, though.  I was just trying to construct a type of bio suit, fit for a soldier in intense combat.  I wanted it to be as protective as possible, without seeming cumbersome and heavy.

Art has always been big in my life too, I also lost it for a while though, mainly because reality hit hard when I was in my late teens, things kind of crumbled in my family... long story but things have gradually gotten better, finally to the point where I was able to think about things I liked and enjoyed, like art  .

Thanks Korn, but It's not so much talent, as it is dedication and practice.

An interesting question: where does talent end and experience begin?  Nature VS nurture.

Regardless of how you gained this ability, Finger, I think it's great and I hope you get a lot of pleasure from it

'THE PEAKS OF HELL'..hehe.  Looks like some mutated land from a nuclear mishap.  Very wild.  I forget, are you using a Wacom for these, in photoshop?

Finger, your art is quite amazing - I love the final soldier piece, very professional.

Grimlock, that is a rather cool looking alien coastline or something, we can always count on you to come up with some mad abstract landscapes with bright and powerful colouring

I'm glad people seem to like my drawings; It's a great encouragement and motivator.  Thanks.
