Basicly this is whats happening, I gots some pics off of the internet. Those pics are 512 X 512 so the whole divisible by 16 thing should be outta the question. I made them into a .wad and placed it in my Sierra/Half-Life/Valve folder. I started up hammer and added them to the textures. Then I compiled. The compile was flawless. After the compile and when Hal-Life was actually running it gave me this error: error kylefloors.wad not found. Whats goin on?

you forgot to wadinclude?
you used to long a file name?
you compiled, but didn't actually use any of the textures?
you imagined the error message, and are now in fact fragging away.

you did put your new wad in the half-life/valve folder, didn't you? or if it's for a mod, then maybe in the mod folder?
if not, then now would be a good time.

First of all 512x512 textures are too large for HL... Try -nowadtextures in csg(or -wadinclude kylefloors.wad). If that helps then some of the paths are screwed.

It doesn't have to be in the CS folder, but it will work in it, or the valve folder... Make sure to check that you didn't accidentally move the file, leave wally open on it, or rename it.
Did the error say 'cannot find valvekylefloors.wad'?
Are you running CS through steam of through the compiler? Steam might screw it up, like it does everything.

-wadinclude wadname
Use this in the parameters (For $csg_exe if you use expert compile mode, and just in the text box if you use normal compile mode.) to include all the used textures from that wad. Very useful for custom textures on multiplayer games since you can just distribute the bsp alone.
Resizing textures in Hammer means northing, they have to be resized smaller in Wally
Copy and paste the texture into mspaint, save as a bmp, open it up in your image viewing software (Like ACDSee or Irfanview), resize it to 256x256, then copy it back into wally.

fiz, you are promoting hammer as a compiling process, that is frowned upon by a large percentage of the pit..
my link however leads to 3 snarkpit tuts.. only one of which is a hammer compiler.. so he can chose i suppose..
still you shouldn't link him to a hammer compiler
/ 2 cents

This was answered many posts ago in this thread. The wad. HAS TO BE included in the CS folder. When you play the game it will precache those textures into your map. Or you could use a batch compiler and just compile it with wad_include and it will include the textures into the BSP. Like I said this has already been answered so If I am right give someone else the credit.

Why is it that every time I post answers to questions, they get changed to comments?

I just moved the wad to the folder. I gave you credit for the program. So I guess that you werent supposed to get that blue answer and fishy in fact was. So sorry for that. Also where does HLCC put the compiled maps? I compiled it but when I ran half-life to see if it had done it, it was like the older compile. Any tips?

I set the BSP dir. to my C\Sierra\Counter-Strike\maps folder so it would go directly to CS. I als o set the hl.exe as the Counter-Strike.exe. Hmmm. Anything I did wrong?
