"Lol valve is so dumb their internet protection systems suxor lol theyre so dum their game got pirated... gabe newell's fat LOLLOL..." Oh wait - maybe it's just an unavoidable fact that people will find any conceivable way to steal games before they come out, and when they do, it's not at all the fault of the company making them.

Why do hackers do this. I know if I was a hacker I'd hack into the pentagon but happily buy my copy of HL2 and Halo2.

Um, it wasn't leaked by a hacker. This isn't a computer game remember? They found a full blown leak, which would most likely be someone who "pocketed it in the packing plant" where they print the games.

Why use computers to break down the pentagon when you can break the walls with your fist?

Is it true? Is Halo 2 really leaked ?

It seems to be that way, yes. It would seem that the french PAL version of the game has surfaced on the internet.

Did Bungie get hacked or something?

Of course not. This is almost positively the work of some jerk in
the manufacturing plant who pocketed the game is it is being printed in
mass for world release on the 9th of November.

What can I do about it?

For starters:

STOP POSTING LINKS TO LEAKED INFORMATION WHERE THE PUBLIC HAS EASY ACCESS TO IT.

The rules have not changed from what we said about leaked magazine
shots. Clearly, this leak is highly illegal. By posting links to where
it can be downloaded, or even by posting links to screens of the leaked
game, you're contributing to the problem by spreading the leaked
information. Further, you may spoil the game for people who have worked
hard to keep their first experience of Halo 2 pure.
Bungie Forums.

No, they don't have to play it, if they show ANYTHING from the leak that's their punishment.

thats not my understanding.. my ip is divided between 4 pc's at times.. the IP is your signature so to speak on the net.. if you were to take a comp to a friends house and link to the net, you wouldn't retain your IP from place to place.

How wonderful IP's are. They are also good for fusterating people till their head explodes when trying to connect to an online game in AoE II.

if you have a router, it designates to each connection on the back side its own IP.. but your connection to the net, is only one.. shared by all.

Actually, you're both right.

An IP IS connected to each computer. And several server side recognized IPs can be running through 1 connection. However, broadband companies don't really like you doing that, and will try to charge you more money (i.e. if you use a hub to split your cable connection).

So, yes, they can refute your IP number. But, I'd imagine they're forums require you to own an X-Box, so you probably have to give some ID number or register it with Microsoft, then their serves just block your Xbox out.

Because, you can always call your ISP and say "Bitches, I want a new IP Address".

But yes, a router takes one connection and assigns its own set of IP addresses, which also means, no matter what computer you sign up for porn on, the entire account will be charged.

[EDIT]
Spartan, they probably have a router, so they're giving you a local IP, not the IP that their connection goes through. Really the only way I can think of finding it is hooking the computer directly up to the connection and checking the IP then.

It should stay fairly consistant.
[/EDIT]

Yeah, stick the PC you want to play or host some game on in the DMZ. There should be a setting somewhere in the router for it, and doing this should let everything work as if that PC was connected straight to the modem.

Halo 2 pirated. Do I care? No! I'll admit I didn't find Halo as riveting as everyone else did, the best bits were the ones without zombies and just the Covenant.

Oh dear... There have been a lot of "studies" into what this precisely means, linking it to all sorts of things in a Nostradamus-hindsight-extension-kinda-way. The most obvious flaw is that the author wouldn't have literally written "666"- John was Roman, I think- and hence if you inverted what he wrote it wouldn't look like "999". The other obvious flaw is that he both a crazy man and an entirely self proclaimed prophet.

Not sure if they were drug-induced but he did use a very strange mix of latin, greek, hebrew, arabic and some other languages to avoid the Inquisition. From what I hear it's very tough to decipher what he's written since his book of quattrains was solely meant only for himself to understand. Considering that clairvoyance was a big business, it's hardly surprising.
