Recently I've been redirected to the DotComToolbar page when my url doesn't exist, instead of the MSN search page. Also when I visite some sites it will take me to DCT first and then to the site, which MSN didn't do. This is annoying because DCT also pops up an advert each time you go there. Doesn anyone know how to change it?

I am assuming you use Internet Explorer.

Click tools/internet options/home page at the top, set it to the deired page.

Now go into your control panel, and do a add/remove programs. Look for that tool bar, and any other programs that you did not install, and remove them.

No the homepage was the same as I wanted - Yahoo. But I did find DotComToolbar in the program list, which I thought strange because I didn't remember installing anything like that. Oh well, it should be gone now and they are "sorry to see me leave"

Download Ad-Aware 6. Get the latest updates (the program can do this) and then scan your computer. Delete EVERYTHING it finds.

I recommend spybot: search and destroy over AdAware. Just search on google for it.

Funny you should mention that hornpipe - I have<I> Ad-Aware 6.0! And thanks for reminding me to scan. I've just typed in the snarkpit url and the page went to dotcomtoolbar! I put in the url again and it worked. Anyway, I'm definitely going to scan soon because I can't find DCT in my programs list (my computer randomly rebooted earlier (I think it's because of overheating) so I don't know if that caused it because I uninstalled it last boot.</I>

<I>By the way, the italic tag is screwed I think. Never seems to turn off.<I>

I had this exact same problem a while back. I think I kept getting sent to some other website every time I typed one of any of my Regular sites. Adaware didn't get rid of it, but Spybot S&D did. From what I heard, it was some dodgy Javascript/ActiveX thingy which manages to run each time.

And SpyBot also detects tracking cookies... those are usually of the maximum number.

"By the way, the italic tag is screwed I think. Never seems to turn off."

Just press it (The <I>I<I> button) again

Fraggard, you seem to have unintentionally made Sim's point, regarding italics, on his behalf

You have some kind of adware installed, ( kazza, etc ). Find a decent virus checker or an adware remover.
