Hello,

We are an established CS/CSS community that has been playing custom maps on our
servers since CS beta 7 after we left OZ Death Match for more of a team orientated mod.

In the past we have only supported custom map makers for CS and CSS by promoting
and playing them as much as possible on all our servers and we were thinking that we could
do more now so we are having a 6 week mapping contest for CSS with a de or cs
type map only.

1st prize is $200.00 us

2nd is $100.00 us

3rd is Supporter status on all our servers for 3 months

Entries must be submitted no later than 11:00 p.m. CST May 25, 2005

Obviously this is not even close to a Valve contest, but were thinking maybe it could at
least partially reward some mappers for the time and effort they put in to
making a custom map. Hopefully it might even spark more interest in some players
making maps for CSS which in the end would give us all more custom maps to play.

If anyone is interested more info can be found at

Thanks Orpheus, I still love a
game or 2 of DM once in a while but after a few years i needed to
change my habit a little. We have a server that rotates a surprise mod
for 2 weeks so members can get a change of pace. It ran CSDM a while
ago and to tell you the truth if I am going to play DM I want to drop
anything that moves. Right now we have Source Pong running and I have
no clue wth that is, I will have to check it out tonight.

Also thanks for the fp tip

habboi I am not sure what you mean by that
have a good one and thanks!

Well some compo's always ask for some things to be changed e.g. clan name somewhere in the map, extra room made etc...

ok I see habboi, I think we are pretty lenient with the mappers creativity, no http or
www address, IMO I think it detracts from the
maps theme anyways. Plus we did not make the map so we realize its only logical
our address is not on it.

We would be happy with a spray on the ground, toilet wall or even a picture.
for instance you could have a building/lot with a small eligible type of "no parking sign" or
"reserved spot" with some thing on it.

In the requirements it says you can browse thru any of our websites and
take/modify any content you wish or feel free to make up your own to fit in.
This way it should not be a problem for anyone and it should go along with any
theme. We want to play on maps with a fair layout for both sides and look good with out having to see some clans tag
or a web address sticking out like a sore thumb.

Of course I do not blame anyone who thinks that is a load of crap no matter
how you slice it but I think with this much artistic freedom and some cash it
could keep all of us happy.

see, it made front page news

in spite of the fact that i find CS to be such a waste, i still value quality mapping.. so do not misunderstand when i mention it from time to time.

welcome to snarkpit.

Well if you are interested have a look at the map I might submit hopefully...

http://www.iwannamap.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2227#2227

Anyway because I live in the UK money would be a problem so I don't really care about the money much... If I was to win which is unlikely I request that you use it for your clan or something cool.

almost seems too devious for habboi to have thought up.

Map looks very nice habboi, and thanks for the offer! We have
members/friends scattered all over the globe and maybe one could
deliver the money to you if

your map were to win. :^)

Seriously though I am pretty sure Western Union or some thing on that order is

located in the UK and just about every where else. I would get the money sent

one way or another to any of the map winners where ever they are located, in

this day and age that can not be impossible.

Not that I wouldn't mind keeping the money for the next map contest or using

it for my SLI setup but that wouldn't be very cool.

I have only toyed with mapping a couple of times and have spent over a
month on my first map and its only about1/2 done, I haven't worked on
it in 2 months.

I think I broke a rule and made it a bit to big to start off with as a first

map. The instead of doing the layout completely and then doing details I

detailed as I went along and though the layout is done now I just do not have

the urge to jump back in.

It sounds reasonable and that gesture I wrote earlier was not an evil plan to win the love of the judges it's just my parents will wonder why money is suddenly coming in the mail and they will think i'm talking to dodgy people
