I looked up the old thread
here,
but it was too old for me to "re-open" it. But lets get to the point!

I know there are people out there who harbor malice towards square and
FF7, but I really don't care about that, this thread was created to
show off the "new" trailer (new to me anyways).
Here
it is. (The movie is in japanese, along with the apple site you view it
from, but its automatic if you have quick time)

Once again this isnt a thread to bash the FF series or square, but just
for us to all watch it and say "damn....thats a good looking CG movie!"

Any thoughts?

Saw this trailer during E3, and have watched it a few times since
Every trailer makes me want this movie more and more, and at long last
we have a release date to wait for. No word on the UK / EU release yet
though, so if its gonna be long after the US release I think I'll have
to grab myself an import! Kinda sad to hear the cinema releases are
highly unlikely to happen (apparently its too late to really make
arrangements for this now, but they were keen to try and get it in
cinema's on limited release, probably only in Japan), but perhaps its
for the best I suppose as I wouldn't want anything to do with my
beloved FFVII flopping!

The trailer itself is much like the others I guess, but I do love
seeing the other characters a bit more fully than earlier trailers. Ah
Yuffie, why do people hate you so? When I get my own house, I'm totally
getting a pet cat called Yuffie  Ahem.

Nothing wrong with that, I just never played Yuffie that much:P.

Anyways was the release date in the trailer the Japan release? I
honestly don't care to have the movie translated to english, in fact Id
rather it not  (I just need sub titles).

The fight scene with the "summon" or "weapon" looks like its gonna be a doozy!

Awww you missed out man, Yuffie was, at least for me, about the
toughest character out of the bunch. Her second lvl.3 limit "Doom of
the Living" was almost as tough as Cloud's "Omnislash" (actually
tougher for me - 15 hits, often at 9999 due to her maxed out Luck and
Strength  ), and since it was only a lvl.3 limit it built up quicker.
Her maxed out agility and luck also meant she only rarely got hit by
attacks, and when she had sneak attack paired with morph all on her
weapon "conformer", it meant she did full damage morph's on all the
enemies at the very start of pretty much every fight and so killed (and morphed) most
enemies without pressing a button
Only Yuffie could do full damage morph's - very useful for grabbing as
many stat increasing sources as possible from the sunken gelnika.

But yeah, thats enough about uber-Yuffie and how I spent way too much time on the game! The given release date is for
Japan but its been confirmed that the release in the US will be within
a week or something of the Japanese release. It will also apparently
comply with Sony's standard DVD content, which apparently means there
will be both Japanese with subtitles and a dubbed english track...and
that had better be bloody true.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'll just have to beat the game
first, played until Sephiroths (sp?) cave, and then I stopped for some
reason. And that was a year or something ago, so I'll beat it from the
beginning.

Aaaaah! I'm not alone!

Ozzy, you have RPG closure issues. You know that once you enter the
cave that the end, you can't realy go back. But Omnislashing Sephiroth
at the end is most satisfying. (except when I first did it, and he
attacked me first, giving a rather damp squib type counter attack.
Replayed from my last save straight away though.)

You can go back Mephs - you can climb back out and get back in the
highwind, then fly around and get everyone's ultimate weapons, lvl.4
limit breaks, fight the WEAPON's, and generally f**k about

I know. Hence "realy". But its the final path, as it were.

Oh, I was shocked and, to be honest, downright f**king appauled to see
that Reno is holding his Cane/magical stick of poke-dom in his RIGHT
hand in a still. He's LEFT handed. Freaks. When I get my copy, I'll be
watching it in a mirror, for authenticity's sake. For SHAME
Square-Enix, for shame.

I stopped playing partially because my friend told me my party sucked
and that all his characters did 9999 in damage with many of their
attacks when they were on the same level while mine did 2000-3000. Also
I was trying to get "Knights of Round", or what it's called, but never succeeded to breed a golden chocobo.

That golden Chocobo was indeed challenging but doing it twice made me smile

Have you seen the Playstation 3 trailer for it? It shows the intro of FF7 but in high graphics.

Ozzy, your friends are lying to you. The final fights are a pushover,
and you can get your levels up to scratch with the enemies in the cave.
But if you're starting from scratch (a good idea) don't run from the
frickin battles. Other than the weapons, the hardest FF7 boss for me
was Barret vs. Dyne. Took me about 10 attempts (3 right, 3 up from the
desert prison, if I remember correctly).

Actually, this thread has revived my love of FF7 that I'm going to start from scratch also.

Otzman - ignore your friend, its pretty normal to be doing that sort of
damage at the end of the game. The final few battles have their
difficulty scaled so they are challenging but possible no matter how
strong your party is anyway. Of course it is capped, so with my
stupidly powerful party I managed to beat the end bosses without
equipping any materia and only using the weapons each character begins
with  The battle against Bizarro Sephiroth using 3 parties took
forever - one of the three parties I was using was horribly weak
compared to the others, and had a very hard time. Damn Cait Sith and
Red XIII and their rubbish limit breaks!

HA HA HA haahaha HAHAHAHA hahaha That is the worst costume I have ever seen!

Funny though because I was thinking about how cool it would be to ride on a Chocobo around town and people stare at you as you go past them really fast.

And they go 'wtf is that thing!?'

It would be so funny if Barret had a 'Mr T' voice on FF7 Advent

LOL, love your new avatar mephs  I tend to be pretty good at
finishing up RPG's I start, but it often takes me a year or two due to
huge breaks. I've been working my way through the original "Grandia"
for about 4 years now  "Shadow Hearts" has taken me quite some time
as well, but I'm still planning on getting to the end as I hear so many
good things about its sequel.

Yeah. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, I hear. So I'm VERY
flattered that you both imitate my avatar and even use Reno as a nick.

On my revisit to FFVII, I'm currently at the Shinra tower (breaking in
through the front for once, I normally take the stairs, which is a
great way to cause wrist strain). I'm 6 hours in, since I talk to
everyone and do everything I can, but I can remember when I first
played it.

I was expecting that after the kickass bike sequence, that would be end
of disc one, rather than simply a prologue to the game itself! Which,
given that few games take that long to complete on all modes put
together, was a HELL of a surprise when I saw the world map. The whole
way through the first disc, at nearly every point I kept thinking,
"right this MUST be the end of disc one". Aaaah memories....

Incidently, my mother literally cries "ooooooh noooooo!" when she hears
the world map theme. She says its ingrained into her head, through my
constant overplaying. And I ask myself why I'm still single?

I'm SERIOUSLY stoked about Advent Children though. I know it might
sound gushing etc, but I'd put the Final Fantasy 7 world up there with
Lord of the Rings in terms of epic fantasy.
