I was wondering if there was a book on hammer I could buy to help get to know the program better. I posted a topic in the mapping section, and people have been gving great advice.. I just dont know how to implement it. I dont know what to do with the advice they gave.. So if there is a book I could read.. something lke Hammer for Dummies, Id like to know.. So I can buy it.

I truly doubt it bud, but.. many of our tutorials have enumerable amounts of pictures to assist you with. I assume that other sites have tutorials with pictures as well. I dunno about you but I find it easier to learn with images than I do with text as in most cases the text assumes you have a base understanding of the solution where in most cases this is entirely untrue.

My advice, stick to what you can learn and make maps that way. Tis one of the main reasons my maps are so basic. I never could grasp concepts others found simplistic.. moans "Stupid MM's"

Anywho's, stick to making a map you can achieve. In the end, you will feel much better cause you will see results, any other choice could lead to a hard drive full of unfinished maps.

I would probably say, if you're just tyring to learn mapping in general, see if you can track down a copy of WorldCraft 2.1 (maybe on your hard drive from a Half-Life WON install, or off the internet) and read the beginner tutorials. 2.1 still probably has the best database out of every WC and Hammer created.
Breaking the laws of mapping since 2003 and doing a damn fine job at it

I have a really really strong feeling that there isn't a book.
Hammer just isn't a big enough program. Just go by tutorials and
dicking around.

If you all could compile it to a book standard, I could have it printed, I have freinds in the printing/publishing biz.

As a matter of fact I have contacts there too Orpheus. Comes from my many years of running game Conventions, having a Cyber Gaming Center, and other special events I have run over the years.

If we ever get settled on a design, still waiting on Leps break though basd off my headugger design to be posted, and I can take it down to the silkscreeners to get done, unless we want it stiched and they can do that too.
