When I want to test the map I'm building, the map never comes up in deathmatch. The information on the window that says copy to clipboard comes up, and then the deathmatch game starts. But, while deathmatch is loading, it closes and leaves hammer and everything else open. There is no error message when deathmatch closes, and I already fixed the problems in my map that it said i had. This is getting really anoying because I added a bunch of neat things and i need to see if they work. Please help.

ok.....first off....post your log file.....we need info on the paths being correct, no inadvertant error messages etc....

second...something as simple as a no info_player start will cause the game to halt loading in mid stream....

If that wasn't it please tell me where to get it. And, yes, I do have the info_player start thing. I also tried to run the map a different way. I opened deathmatch and chose to start a new game, and selected my map as the map to start with. About halfway through the loading deathmatch closed too, so I think theres something rong with my map, and not the game. Please help..... Im cursed! lol.

Guess what, I know what caused it, kinda.

I took the plug and stuff to run the fan in dmlockdown, and changed a few things to make it work 4 a door, and when i deleted it my map runs fine, i just need help to set up the plug to open the door. I'm going to play around with it now, and tell how dar I get later, but any sugestions will be helpfull.

Well in your compile log mate, it says you have a leak. You need to fix that.

<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quote:</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>**** leaked ****
Entity light (1130.46 -279.00 -83.51) leaked!</DIV></DIV>

That might be your only problem.

How do I fix the leak? I once noticed a leak in there too, and I went to the point and didnt know what to do. I don't think it was that point though, anyways thanks. I think I just messed up with inputs and outputs alot, but i get them now. All I need to do is figure out why the cord length of my cord is flying across the map, cus i need to pick up the end to plug it in for the door to open. And the weird thing is I set the slack to 5 on both ends of the cord.

Is there a light entity at that point or near it? If so I would just delete it permenantly or create a new one. Is it outside of your skybox or basicly outside of the map? If so move it back in or delete it. Hopefully I helped and did not confuse you.

load your point file. Most of the time leaks are caused by a hole
in your map, hammer draws a line from the closest entity (in this case
a light) to the hole, that is the point file.

As for your map not showing up:
** Executing...

** Command: Copy File

** Parameters: "C:\Program
Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\christakos\sourcesdk_content\hl2mp\mapsrc\DarthKristofer.bsp"
"c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\christakos\half-life 2
deathmatch\hl2mp\maps\DarthKristofer.bsp"
it shows your map being copied into your hl2:dm folder, so you should be able to run the .bsp from hl2:dm.

<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quoting DrGlass</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>

it shows your map being copied into your hl2:dm folder, so you should be able to run the .bsp from hl2:dm.

</DIV></DIV>

Maps go, exactly where you tell them to. Defective or not.

Just because the destination of this map is the proper folder, does NOT mean it will show in the list. As Doc said, if its missing a MultiPlayer Start it will not be in the list.

/ clarification.

yes thats true, thanks orph. Though, if you dont have a player
start your map will still load, it will just load the player to the map
origin (0,0,0). Infact you can load maps that have almost nothing
in them, as long as there is not huge flaw.

It runs fine now, I just had to redo the setup of my plugs and stuff. I copied the plug and outlet thing that turns on a fan in another lvl into mine. I guess it did need the filter I deleted and all my inputs/outputs weren't corect. So, I'll fix that leak but the cord that connects the plugpiece i pick up to the wall is kinda out of controll. I'll try to redo that to mabey. Thanks.

All true, but the key words are "in the list"

If you load a map via hammer, you need no start position. if you load the map via steam/hl2, you need one in order for it to show in the list of choices.

anyways...

Well you could load it from the console in game, so it doesn't have to be done from hammer, but yeah, it won't show in the list.
