I don't think that would be as bad, especially if you're hit somewhere so that you faint before dying.

Being burned alive has to be the worst way to die.
Burning alive and surviving it is worse than burning and dying though.

I still say drowning is worse. Becuase when you burn your body
will go into shock and you'll be dead before it gets too
painfull. If you drown... you have about 2 mintues to think about
the fact that your going to die then give in and take that first gulp
of water.

being beat death but not losing consciousness. and also if the flames are cold enough you will burn not just go into shock.

The way i want to die is to take Acid and be playing my guitar while im falling 30000 from the Earth.

A truly horrible way to die is to be slowly eaten alive by rats.

All things considered, you could do much worse than freezing to death. Once you get past the bitter cold, you just start to numb until you blink out. I'll take it over the "your body goes into shock so that you don't feel the engulfing flames anymore" malarky.

Yeah, when you freeze you just kinda fall asleep then die.

when you burn, it will hurt alot. When your body goes through
alot of pain it just kinda shuts off, your brain also releses chemicals
to numb the pain.

I still say drowning is the worst.

I agree, lack of air is truly horrible. Though these aren't exactly irrational fears, thus they are not PHOBIAS.

Although I've never burned to death... I'm gonna have to agree with
Cash. I don't think you stop feeling the pain until you pass
out/die.

And its probably the worst pain ever covering every square inch of your body.

A guy stuck an automatic-airpump up his arse (a sexual deviation?) and
pumped until his stomach exploded and crawled in agony as blood was
pouring out his mouth and anus. How's that for a nasty death?

Ebola. Another "lovely" way to go (vomiting your internal organs).

Andrei, do you HAVE to tell stories like that

It hurts even to think about it

But yes, Ebola is uh... cruel way  I'd prefer someone cutting off my head

As a very wise man once said.. After all, to the well-organised mind, death is but
the next great adventure.

Fear of these threads

But seriously, I don't have a complete phobia, but just prefer not to
be in crowded places for long periods of time (apart from parties and
gigs).

I would have the opposite of claustophobia, I love closed spaces, as long as they don't break my neck.

Being dead period is all bad. How you got that way afterward is moot. I also think this comment about worse, its age specific. I personally feel the worse way to die would be after years and years of a debilitating disease.

I FEAR being unable to end my own suffering. IE self euthanizing.

Underdog, as I said... To a well organized mind, Death is just another big adventure.

Or... Death is like going to sleep after a very long day.

I'm not afraid of death. I have no problems making a self euthanasia,
if necessary. For instance, if I become an invalid. A guy with
disabilities. not being able to walk is something I hate.

I think with sorrow of that poor woman from the US...you know the one.
And I'd rather be mercifully shot in the head rather than end-up like her ;( .

Still, there is a great difference between being burned alive and dying in your sleep because of a heart attack.

Which reminds me: "when I die, I wanna go just like my grandfather did:
peaceful in his sleep, not screaming and struggling like all the
passengers in his car".

Re-read my sentiment. Its not euthanization I fear. Its being incapacitated to a point to where its not an option.

Alzheimer's, quadriplegic, brain damage.

Its not euthanization I fear.
Neither do I. I was saying that I'd rather die than end-up with
something like Dementia Preacox. Thus I'm more afraid of ending-up with
a cronical disease or insanity than of dying.

Something which I couldn't stop, but was in slow decline- that would be horrible, like MS or something. Finding one day I could no longer do something as simple as stir my tea or something, I wouldn't be able to cope.

My wife and I have a pact. If either of us is unable to do what needs to be done, the other will see it through.

One day her and I were at the checkout at the grocer. In front of us was an older gent. He was lost. Not lost as in not at the store when he wasn't supposed to be. He was lost in the mental faculties department. He couldn't remember why he was in the checkout.

I do not want to ever be like that.

That people, is my definition of fear incarnate.

Once you reach that point would you notice?

Its easy to say you wouldn't want to live if you had no legs but if you
get to that point would you really have nothing to live for?

I do agree though, if I were turned into a veggie I wouldn't want to
live. There is not point in living if you cant hold higher level
thought. I wouldn't like to live without my legs but what I fear
most is the lost of my mind (though like I said up there, once its gone
you wouldn't be able to miss it).

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't fear the loss of my body as long as I got to use it before it was gone.

i agree with that, but not burning on a fire. apparently they used to
kill people by placing them in huge tankers of oil or something, and
then slowley heated it up wile they were inside, untill they "cooked"
shall we say. deep fat fried.

If i dont fear spiders, i fear myself!!
