All jokes aside, the games been getting pretty bad reviews. I can understand why, its a game that was suposed to come out 4-5 years ago. Anyone actually play it? Should I wait for 39$, or 10$?

I've been playing it, it's good. The reviews are drastically unfair. The game is not polished in terms of presentation, however, game mechanics are polished.

The humor is as immature and clever as ever.

The game isn't short and there's A LOT of fan service in it.

The main thing to keep in mind is, really, it's just a slightly above average game. People taking the stance of "oh this exact version of this game has been in development for 14 years it should be better!", which it's really only been in heavy development for like three years.

Is it better than Duke 3D? Nah. Is it shit? No way! Should you play it? YES. ON PC.

The reviews are mostly for 360 which has a lot of issues, the PS3 version doesn't have the same problems and the PC version has even less.

As a game, it's not worth the full price, unless you really want to play some Duke and want the extras or whatever. But you should definitely play it at some point.

The game has a lot of variety, variety that we haven't seen in an FPS since HL2.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

My brother has played it and he said it's actually not a good game. But he knows what he's saying since he definitely played more than about 120 games in his life. :scream:

He said the jokes are funny and random though.

Poor Duke

It was always going to be the industry punching bag and the perfect example of when games development gets out of hand.
Its like the thing that everyone loves to hate. Ummm like Waterworld... its not a bad movie. But due to the huge budget and disasters in making it, it gained a reputation for being a turkey.

If you hadnt heard the long sad history of DNF its reception would probably be better recieved.

I plan to play it through one day (either with my own copy, or when it comes down in price, my copy). But for now I think I'll get my taste through the demo, if that's still available.

The trailer makes me laugh, and the every time I see snippets of the game, I'm usually laughing. It's a nice break from all the games that take themselves too seriously.

I'm enjoying it so far, the duke is still the monument to manliness we all love and the heart and humor are definitely there. My only beef is with the combat, the two weapons system (from what i understand, it was implemented to make up for the limitations of the xbox controller?), the somewhat clunky aiming (and the way some props have 'bad' collision boxes around them that block bullets - especially statues) and the tendency to rely on arena-style battles kinda make the actual SHOOTER part pretty average in my eyes. So far at least. But as said above, the game doesn't take itself too seriously and that's fine. All in all, i for one r teh happy!

the modeling in the game is descent, the animation ranges from really good to fucking terrible, though. (Not saying don't play it, obviously, I'm Pro-duke here, but it is definitely one of the game's many flaws)

Since I began the task of buying the land across the road I have been so busy that my game machine hasn't been turned on since the last week of January. I'd hoped to get this game by next month. My last run was 6400 miles in 10 days. So... Freaking... Tired.

The good news is, I only have one more payment and its mine free and clear. 5 acres for $8,000 in 5 months. wipes brow

Orph,
You need a break it sounds like. Once you get that land take some time and slow down, it's not worth burning yourself out.
Been there done that, paid off my house in 6 years on a 30yr mortage, bought and sold several properties and DAMN near killed myself doing it.
Now I'm a wreck physically and metally at times. :(

We really needed the land. Its right across the road, so its very convenient. Its covered in trees so our wood stove will have ample fuel. The price of land isn't gonna go down. The price was, a bit high for the area, but it was over shadowed by the positives. The only stipulation was I had to promise to have it paid for before he dies. He said his wife was to stupid to take care of the financial ends so he is doing it before he dies. (his words, not mine)

Also, I have been very disappointed about my internet nowdays. This stupid 3 gig limit. ALSO, the damned DSL people lied, AGAIN!!! Its still not available in my area.

There just hasn't been motivation enough to want to play anything. Hell, I looked at the box, on the shelf and didn't even pick it up. The price tag of a game 14 years delayed was just to much for me to deal with at the moment.

The best things in life, aren't things.

Well I can tell you Orph I've been playing it, it's not bad, not great but worth playing. Also it's worth waiting alittle longer to play until it's cheaper too.
