You know, the queues aren't that bad really. You start in line, then just use your PC for whatever you want, then at some point the download finishes, and you can open it. The amount of time used in downloading something by you is the same whether you have to wait 2 hours or not at all. The download still works if you don't sit there watching it

I just watched it, and it does show off some amazing skill at HL, even though it was edited together. Some of the jumps in Xen are unbelievably well timed.

I reluctantly downloaded the movie thinking it would be booring to just watch a guy play half-life for an hour, but this was seriously amazing! That dude exploited so many bugs that he practically skipped half the game!
Gotta love his treatment of "Power Up": enter level, run by garg, place tripmine on "impassable" wall, jump on tripmine and over wall, next level plz.
Or on "weve got hostiles" where he intentionally gets himself dragged up by a barnacle just to shoot it and fall off on a higher, much further section.
Or when he walks straight up the cliff face in the beginning of surface tension, runs along the top completely skipping the dam section, and jumps off the cliff into a wedge so he takes no damage.
Or in blast pit where he jumps AROUND the outside of the entire silo.
And thats only a few. Wow. just Wow.

Ok, sounds interesting enough, I havn't played the single player game in over a year. The wait time for me seems to only be 14 min, not bad.
Edit: Got it finally

Yea, that guy is pretty good. The slight gaps in the videos seem to just be from editing out load times. I wonder how many times this guy actually played the game to get so good, he seemed to know all the tricks. He must like to speed play games, reminds me of Donkey Kong country on super nintendo, I loved speed play that game.

I always meant to speed play the new prince of persia game, seems ideal for it. Suppose I should go back and complete the thing first though  I hate that damn library, I got stuck there then got distracted by other games.

I just finished watching it - wow. You all need to watch it, not because its Half-Life under an hour, but because of all the jumps and s**t he does! He imploys so many glitches that I didnt even know existed in Half-Life! He also does amazing jumps. Nailing ladders from very high up - without dieing.
But this video seems VERY odd to me...For one, he tau jumps in two different occasions; and correct me if Im worng, but Tau jumping wasnt in singleplay was it? And another part, his grenade count says "0", yet he throws a grenade and skills enemies. He did this three or so times. But still, the video is amazing.

The thing with the ammo is a bug in demo recording. It resets your ammo display(s) to 0, until you try to use the ammo, at which point the correct ammo level is restored. Gauss jumping doesn't work in single player in that it won't give you any vertical speed, but it will still accelerate you horizontaly, and this is what he takes advatage of.

yeah, it's interesting that in some places he gets c**ky and stops to kill all the enemies for a few seconds. If he didn't do that to 'show off' his gun skill he could shave off maybe a minute of time.
I love the way he just casually does all the crazy jumps like it's as easy as breathing for him. A must see, absolutely amazing.

I don't think it's that easy for him. He says on the website that the jump at the start of Xen took him over 100 tries

i watched, it, i was amazed to say the least.. the way the wings just sprouted out of his ass during each jump, his obviously prehensile toes to grasp walls with, his faster than run legs, and his homing ammo.. it was amazing.
someone obviously played the game before.

There's hardly a queue whenever I try to download stuff off fileplanet. Usually 1 min or less.

Some nice bhopping skills he has there. His use of tripmines is pretty clever too. Reminds of me of making mine ladders in NS to get into a vent.

Speed at which he moves (including through ducts), and you can tell from the pitch of the voices of the scientists when they talk, too...

He moves through the ducts quickly because he is wallhugging i.e. when you strafe against the side of a duct, you move faster. And the scientists voices don't seem any more high-pitched or faster than I remember them from Half-Life...

In addition to the wall hugging, the lipsync and stuff screws up with demo recording.

Just downloaded it ... the voices are a bit pitched, indeed ... but not all the time. And the synchronization has to do something with Fraps ... a little delay or something.
Amazing video, anyway. Those tripmines, lol.

yeh. the reason i dont use fraps for my cs movies, is because it makes it faster and screws with the sync. i just use the startmovie function in the console. sure it takes longer, but it gives more control and better end quality in my opinion.

What the hell - I didn't know tripmines were solid. I usually blow up when I try to stand on them.

You have to wall-strafe before you jump on em ... if you jump on them from a different angle, they will surely blow in your face.
I just watched the first 30 minutes of the movie ... I'm impressed ... I'm quite sure he didn't cheat in the movie or changed the speed, just the sound screws up from time to time, but that's a Fraps Problem. If he converted the demo's to AVI, we would have no sound ... and watching a timeattack video without the original HL sounds would be just boring
