has anyone besides me, been keeping up with this seasons events??
i hate to say this, but this show has advanced so far IMO, that it has now exceeded my allegiance to TNG..
yes all the treks are good IMO, but this new show is more people minded, i suppose because its not as far in our future as the others were..
if you have not looked at this show since year one, and stopped because you thought it crap.. remind yourself exactly how horribly year 1 was for TNG, and now they have several feature films with the cast/crew..
Enterprise is destined to overshadow all the other treks... take a moment to watch this year at least.. it may win you over as well

It is true, I tend to be a tad cynical with TV shows. There are only a few that actually make it under my radar (for example 24). I tend to watch more comedies than anything. Friends was good, as was Seinfeld, and Malcolm in The Middle, so I at least know you're all good at that sort of thing. To be perfectly honest, it's not as if we're any better at tense drama either. In fact, I don't think I watch any actual TV drama at all. It's just all so bad to me. It tends to only work in movies for me. Meh, TV only seems to be good at making me laugh now.
I guess this is why I'm downloading episode upon episode of Who's Line Is It Anyway. That show was just pure hilarity.

People oriented is a bad thing, it gets too corny and into itself. I only watched Voyager for the 'getting home events' that occasionally happened, and the shows which just focused on character development were dull and pointless :/ (DS9 was the same and utterly tedious until they got into the final series with the Dominion story, although the end was a bit of a damp squib!) I can't really see where Enterprise is aiming, we all know that they live happier ever after for at least a couple of hundred years more

Nah, taste is paramount over enjoyment of star trek
Juim is a diehard trekkie, I believe

Enterprise never appealed to me - Prequel series concepts generally don't work as well when the prequel is completely apocryphal to... well, anything already established. Call me a purist, but meh.
Agreed on the DS9 finale, Lep. They really made a pretty impressive Trek out of the Dominion stretch (actual focus on -combat- and development of warships like the Defiant and Sovereign-Class Enterprise? WOOHOO!), but that ending was a little weak. The philosophical aspect of DS9 was never bad, but it always seemed to go on for too long or show up at the wrong times

Of course I get your point. Personally I find the human interest story with no 'aim' just a waste of time, I could go watch/read non-fiction about real people and situations if I was interested in that.

Babylon 5 was spectacular.
I need to get me all those seasons on DVD once I get my real paychecks going. Just over a month now, woohoo!

Yes I am a die hard trekkie. I have about a 25,000 dollar collection (all told, retail). I too was very dissappointed with Enterprises. Although I must say this past season the story line has managed to capture my attention. I appreciate the character development. Archers ability to do evil in pursuit of greater causes, the crews hatreds, desires all being worn on their sleeves, and generally good story telling. There was a point when I wrote it off. (of note: the acrual stealing of enemy mine for an episode), but they have redeemed themselves rather nicely. I hold slightly higher hopes for another season now.

my collection, is limited to books and video's, but i am no less a trekkie for it
this year is monumental in the trek universe as far as enterprise has developed..
i fear, of an equally monumental cliff hanger, since there are only 2 episodes left this year, and the final one is top secret..
you have any inside scoop juim??

Nope sorry. Save for my acquaintance with one of the ex employess of Trekdom, I have heard no scoops.
Firefly, however has made it to the big screen!. I just happened to drop by the soundstage where they are building the sets for it at Universal last week. Joss Whedon sold his soul for this one though. None of the original production crew are on it, including the art director. They are using the same effects house, (the ones who won an emmy for the TV series fx). I sadly prolly won't get to work on it though. I did manage to get the new Key Grips phone number and have been dropping little messages to him hoping to squezze in as a regular hammer, but it does'nt look good. Sets are impressive and feature scaled though. I'll try and sneal some pics next time I'm over there.

In all fairness, there was one element of Star Trek I enjoyed, and that was The Borg. They were just baddass. But then I found out about that whole Queen borg thing, which sort of went against the entire idea of The Borg being an emotionless singular consciousness. :-/

They never acted as a hive, they were a singular concsciousness. The borg were cool because of this - I never imagined there was a leader of sorts, more that they were one being. They were cold, emotionless and simply didn't give a damn about anyone but themselves (or, if you want, itself). But the queen borg was an individual, and had emotion. This, in my eyes, was totally against what The Borg was about. She trusted Data too much, and she got screwed because of it. If she was a TRUE borg, this would never have happened. Hell, if she was a true borg, she wouldn't have existed.
I liked that they were one consiousness, not some bee hive. It made them more intimidating in my opinion.

Can't be bothered to read the thread, but enterprise is definately better than TNG IMO. In TNG, most episodes were either 'someone gets stuck in the holodeck', 'ricker gets involved with some alien woman', or 'data has some problem understanding humans'. All of the non-main-plot episodes were pretty boring really...
I don't know where we are with enterprise here in the UK... I think the last episode I watched, they were very close to finding the alien WMD.

"Enterprise" blows and I hate Scott Bakula, however, I doubt it's crappier then "Voyager" (what a bad show).
Titanic was a piece of crap. Its also a paradox, a James Cameron movie with only one gun.
I don't watch much TV anymore, simply because it's all crap. Not many people can produce decent shows now (or ever, really). All my faith in broadcasting companies has been lost as well, since they're all stuck in the 'reality-rift' with slogans like "It doesn't get any more real then this". The last good show that came out was Spider-Man. However, I have no idea if they're going up for a second season, I doubt it since Mtv has a bunch of morons for employees.
When I went to the theater yesterday there was some crappy advertisement (funded by the lake of poison himself, Joel Silver) for a new reality show, where people try out to be an action film star. Whomever wins gets their own craptacular movie, produced by the swarm of locus that is Joel Silver.
By the way, I'm in a great mood.

i know this may be a waste of time, but you have gotta see this show.. if nothing else the last few episodes will get you hooked..
get bit torrent..
search out and released torrents by "NiteShdw500kbps"
look for at least episodes 3x20, 3x21, 3x22 or 3x23
gives a whole new meaning to edge of your seat.
322 and 323 are two of the best shows ever for trek..

does Archer (Baluka) try to sound so much like John Wayne, or is this terrible affliction natural?

Deep Space Nine and Voyager were both good, but not as good as The Next Generation. I have seen every single episode of both TNG and the original Star Trek. Amazingly enough, I didn't even know that "Enterprise" existed until last night.
I guess I don't really watch much TV nowadays.
