I'm only really posting in this to bump it (kinda fallen below other
posts and people may not notice it). I've not had the issue but it
looks a bit troublesome. Are the lines appearing at the seams between
two brushes, or just somewhere in the middle of brushes? Are they
appearing at the point where a texture repeats or just somewhere in the
middle of the texture?

I get that sometimes as well .... it happens only at seams where brushes meet and depends on the angle u look at it

Eeek, don't you dare! Overlapping brushes is a bad move except in a select few circumstances.

I'd like to know... does this also happen in other (official) maps, or only in this map?

It seems like it only happens when textures repeats or corners of brushes, but that 3rd picturse the white line is not even straight, and it is moving diagonal. As far as I can remember it only happens in custom maps, I will go play CS:S and check right now if i can find anything like it in a regular map. I know that I had this problem in HL1 custom maps also, I am going to try some stuff and get back to you guys.

I'll take a look at the map on my computer and see if I can see the
lines if you like - I know your friend checked it too but can't hurt to have more
checks. You could also try a CS:S custom (non-trivial) map made by
somebody else to see if they appear. I'll send you one if you like.

So I just went and checked de_dust and my map, and it does happen in both. But I did figure out what causes the problem, it is Anti-Aliasing, when it was off I had no white lines on either of the maps. I played around with AF and that did not affect the white lines, it was only AA. But turning off AA (2x) makes the graphics ALOT worse, its a must for me. I play with 2x AA and 8x AF and get about 45 FPS. I have a 9800 Pro with the latest drivers. The only other setting I could think of affecting it is Vsync, but I am pretty sure it was like that before I had it on, I will go check right now though. If you have an ATI card and want to see if you get the same problem, turn on AA, go to de_dust, spawn ct and go to the "dark room" on that first entrance the lines are pretty visible for me, and in the room where the floors and the walls meet it is visible.

<!--StartFragment -->im pretty sure its driver related, for instance on nvidia cards updating to the 66.93 drivers seems to remove those lines or at least cuts down on them somewhat i found
not sure about ATI cards though

I've had the same problem in almost all of my custom maps. I just accepted it as a side-effect of 3D hardware rendering. My fiance, however, was disturbed by these strange white dotted lines. I tried overlapping brushes, but it doesn't solve this problem (and overlapping brushes gets on my nerves too).
I did notice that, in general, when you approach the junction of two brushes, the lines tend to disappear. It's only visible when the player is at some distance from the junction of brushes.
I have a Radeon 9200, by the way. (I know, really old, but I'm stuck with it for now).

i get the lines as well if AA is turned on with my fx5200, but i also get 20 fps... so needless to say i dont use AA.
