:evil: Is it just me, or are VALVe struggling to make sure Half-life2 doesn't risk becoming as popular as the original? For a start, why are there so few models available (not even a single tree!!!)? Why are there so few textures available? Why are the resources locked like that?! Why the insane file security?!? What's even more frustrating is that, after seeing some pics of CS:S maps under development here ,at SnarkPit, i've noticed that other users [seem to] have access to more models and textures than I/we (the others with this problem) do. Am i missing something? Do I have to hack the gameinfo.txt? Leperous showed us how his gameinfo.txt looks like in another topic, claiming to have access to all hl2 models and textures. I took the hint and used the same gameinfo config. Nothing... GCFScape refuses to cooperate ["the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)."], and I am close to killing myself here. :mad: starts crying

What are you bitching about? You've obviously got Hammer set up wrong, as I can see like 6 different trees that can be used in HL2. I do like that you immediately accuse Valve of some sort of conspiracy instead of using your head and determining its something you've f**ked up, considering everybody else has access to all these secret models and textures.

i feel your pain as well...

as for the insane file security... i hate having to be on the internet to play a SINGLE player game! granted i have cable-internet... but its just the fact of the matter!

i really do hate the prop models browsing, i dont know about other people, but i can never find anything im looking for. i know they are there... just cant find where :sad:

as for textures and everything... found a tutorial on how to transfer HL1 textures to HL2... so im about to break out my HL Platinum edition and convert them ALL :lol:

There are certainly trees. Be sure to delete the folder your SDK
created then open the SDK from the play menu and it'll recreate the
folder with the proper defaults.

Genesisrage, you don't need to be on the goddamned internet to play HL2. That's the fact of the matter.

Why is every thread these days a 34435 year old revival or an instant flamefest?

I'm just tired of stupidity. I'm pretty close to just giving up and going with the flow.

Haha, that's funny. Kind of an ironic post. See if you can spot it. (Not specifically insulting you.)

Woops. :lol: I just noticed it myself. I guess I'm dumb too... or just too tired. Listening to the same Korn song and sitting in the same comp chair all day can do things to ya. So bored so very very bored.

Naa, you're not dumb. You're just tired, like me. I only slept for four hours last night, having stayed up with some friends watching "Elf". I got up early this morning to map. I'm making a fairly large map, the most complex one for me to date.

I have noticed an influx of ancient thread rebirths and flame-wars coming to bear. Most Flame wars start after some non-n00b looking for something to do in life insults the thread reviving n00b.

Also I have noticed a sharp incline in the amount of editing questions posted in "GENERAL BANTER"
<TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#50a409>

<TR>
<TD bgColor=#003300>Don't post editing questions here, or else we'll kill you. No, really. And maps go in the maps forum. Oh, and please do a forum search before you ask a question about something.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I'm using offline mod and HL2 still insists on connecting to the net :sad: .
Must have drunk to much when posted this thread :S . :leper:

And give me a break with your nagging, yak_fighter, not everyone masters hammer like you :smile: .

For whatever reason the SDK doesn't play in offline mode...and it's the
one out of all of them that I wish I could forego Steam or at least
online capabilities for.
