Tomorrow (Saturday) is the start of spring break, but I don't leave campus until Sunday so I have a day completely free.

I intend to make a quality HL2DM map from start to finish tomorrow. The rules: everything must be stock, and everything must be done tomorrow. By everything I mean the whole deal - think up the style, plan the layout, make the geometry, add details, playtest, and edit. I don't know if its possible.

Anyways, I will post updates throughout the day. If anyone has ideas or would like to help do team-mapping, feel free to post or message me (email/msn messenger: n_alger_ at hotmail).

Insanity, nothing but. I'm intending to "speed map" before April time,
to get a release out at last, but not over a 24 hour period

Just use the time to fix the water bugs in Island17! runs away

Speedmapping is fun. I used to speedmap maps for TS with a friend, we'd do one map each and see whos was the best.

No offense intended, but i can recall only one map made in a day that was worth a s**t.

cannot recall its name, but it was a HL/DMC map. sadly even though i know the author I cannot recall which.

One day maps tend to be exactly that, one days worth.

I have TWICE thought I would just make a mp in one day. A perfect example was my Dungeon Death mod for HL1. I originally only intended to work on it for one or two nights....I had just got done playing a small map called winter maze, and decided I would make a bigger, cooler maze. 4 months later........

So yeah...I would do a 24 hour map...but I know I would never be satisfied and keep building on it...thus destroying original intent. Also, when I only plan on working on it for a certain amount of time, the beginning parts where I "speed mapped" always look like sh*t.

I will not set boundries on my maps unless for a contest  ...which by the way...oh Leeeeep!

edit:

My maps turn out to be sh*t usually anyways, so nvm. I think like 6.25 average rating on my maps.

I'd be interested if I didn't have other things to do today (and it
wasn't near enough 3pm already!). I'm certainly up for giving it a shot
in the future. Best of luck with it by the way Maze, should be
interesting to see how it turns out

Maybe if you keep it SMALL and don't try any effects that you aren't dead-sure how to do... It takes me weeks just to tweak the lighting in most of my maps.

Does anyone know Kasperg from TWHL? I bet he can crank up a decent DM map in a day. He typically completes a map in three days, and they look very impressive.
