We need to have a map contest where the maps made by Interlopers members are rated against the maps made by the Snarkpit members. Not only would it be a large map contest but it would get a lot of attention due to the fact that both sites are frequently viewed by many mappers. Also the quality of maps could turn out to be great and the variety of maps would be large. So what do you guys think?

I like it. Just one thing: the match should be between a certain number
of mappers that best represent the community their part of, and not all
vs all (too many newbies with stupid fy maps).

Errr, when? I don't recall any competitive fixture between us in the past.
Not sure I have time for it at the moment, though I'd perhaps have a
bash at something small if a contest did make an appearance.

I think it would have to be pretty small/quick to get any entries. Maybe a size limitation: 1024x1024x1024?

How about just generally comparing the map output of both sites, rather than having some big showdown? (such a thing isn't worth it either unless there's loads of press coverage and ladies fawning over me)

Whats Interlopers? I've not only never heard of it, but on google, its not near the top like snarkpit is when you search for HL2 editing. Must be a publicity stunt by Interlopers to get press and steal our members... It won't work buddeh'!

I know what they are talking about but it was a thread on this site a long time ago when Interlopers was just beginning. This was before the site went through a major face lift.

maybe if you sent us money based on how many snark marks we have....
I'm trying to put together a huge newbie tut. There just isn't enough time in the day though!

Before you make a newbie tutorial, make sure it starts from the beginning and does something fairly basic but interesting. Also feel free to split it up over multiple tutorials rather than having one ?ber-tut.
remembers to let tutorials be 'saved for later' :

I'm thinking of splitting it into three parts, tool out line, brush
work basics, and entitie basics. There is just so much info that
newbies need to know!
but I digress... are we going to do this contest or not? maybe we
should just have a team death match on our server and see who is better
at playing the maps.

Well, that ended rather nicely.
Oh, thanks for the pimp too, Mike-O. I reckon there's at least a dozen you should have linked before me, though.
