Wooyay! Ebay would appear to have been pwned, by the Bob-meister, and various crank bidders (?10,000,000 bids etc), shutting the sales down.
However, I'm not sure its THAT outrageous. The whole psuedo-raffle
setup was fine, and I don't think the tickets should be sold on,
but it does give people the chance to see the concert that weren't
fortunate to 'win'
(semi-interesting point about phone/text-in 'competitions': the reason
all tv-shows etc have patronising questions, is to get around gambling
laws. By adding a qualifying question, it becomes a competition, and
not a raffle, which would require TV shows to get a license etc.)

Actually, I like this direction. Too many people pussy out of the
discussion, for fear of sounding like they hate poor people or are
racist etc.
In my personal opinion its all down to education. For example, there
would be no chance of Tony Blair pulling stunts like Robert Mugabe,
he'd be lynched quite quickly if he ever tried directly screwing the
people financially. But, in the case of Zimbabwe, its not a matter of
they're poor because they're stupid.
If a government controls the media, its pretty difficult for any
opposing message to be spread. These types of countries have a monopoly
on the information fed to their people. Its like the concept in
Orwell's 1984, that you can't rebel if revolution is removed from the
language.
Some despots just take the money thrown at them and buy bloody
limosines and aeroplanes for their ruler. You can't just GIVE money to
countries like this, you need to spend it for them, which seems like an
invasion, and rightly so.
Had the white Europeans not been such assholes to Africa, they would
glady respect us, instead of seeing any attempts at intervention as the
whites trying to screw them again.
If I was writing blank cheques to these nations the first thing I'd do
is finance independant news networks. Despotism thrives on propaganda
and control of a countries intellect.
I firmly believe that the greatest thing the United Kingdom (hate them
as I do) ever created and maintained was its nasty, viscious media.
Having such a vigilant watchdog is what keeps the ones in power from
even thinking about it!

More options would be nice.. It is even more black/white than I care to discuss.
[EDIT] Then again, if the topic had not strayed, the choices would have been enough..
tough call there. :/

I voted no, I dont think charity things should be re-sold on the honor system.
As for the 3rd worldness of Africa, remeber that while it my be the
fault of Africa, most of the contries have been independent for only 50
years. They havn't had the same 500+ years to grow like our 1st
world countries have. Look at the US, we started out with a very
strong frame work, yet we were having a civil war almost 100 years
later. It took us about 200 years to create equality for all
citizens.
Now think about African countries, they have war lords, evil dictators,
ethnic/religious diffrances, etc. how can we expect them to
settle all of their troubles and get out of the pit they are in with
out some outside help?
After what the imperial countries did to them, I think its only fair.

Ebay have banned selling them now anyway, but I started thinking to myself...
I reckon its fine. Just 'cus your a charity doesn't mean everyones gunna cry and rub thier eyes and s**t. Live8 or whatever are being damn right stupid- they should give the option to buy the tickets for large sums of money, or at least personalise tickets to the people who win- much like a plane ticket. They have only themselves to blaim for having trust in humanity
