Yeah, I've been fragging it offline and have come to the conclusion that its not quite as bad as i thought originally.. It still doesn't rank with HLDM, but its not a total loser.. I still do not see the popularity however. :/

Anywho's, I have determined that the bots.... cheat.

1st off, after you die, you have the option of watching through their other players perspective so you can get a feel for how they frag.

2ndly, some bots are so stupid that they bounce against the walls, literally the whole match.

3rdly.. these same stupid bots while dumb enough to bounce, will turn around, zero in and brain shoot you with one pull of the trigger.. BULLs**t!!!

I, after I get to know the game, plan on playing online again to see how it plays with real players.. Stupid bots are getting on my nerves.

Before you forget, lemme just say "HLDM RULZ"

Bots are pretty much like that on everygame. They suck worse than just
about every noob but they always get headshots. (wierd contradiction)

Yeah, all bots are like that, but it doesn't make CS a bad game.
CS is amazing and I love it. I don't play DM or CS much anymore,
I've traded them in for Plan of Attack and Battlefield 2.

I've never found it to be that different from online play, I still get
headshotted long range by some punk with a pistol, it never seems to
matter. Of course flashbangs actually work on 'some' of the people
online. Nothing funnier than flashing a player then shooting them while
they are crouched in a corner hoping no one will notice them  .

Oh, that reminds me, I dont know if there are any servers in the US,
but keep an eye out for CSS Zombie Horde. I play it a fair bit here in
Oz, its great fun and breaks the monotony of regular CS with enemies
that dont shoot back! Terrorists all have the HL2 zombie model and only
have knives, they outnumber the CT's by 2:1, and the CT's have a
limited range of weapons to chose from. Shooting the T's in the head is
the only way to kill them, and they 400 health to make it interesting.
Great fun  .

I was quite disappointed at CS:S when I first played it and still dislike it. CS1.6 is alot better.

Can't say why, it's just... more fun. CS:S is all graphics, no gameplay.

From what I've seen, the CS:S bots are quite good. Better than any other bots I've seen for HL mods. I imagine theyd be the most difficult part of the mod to code, even with the simplistic behaviour they show now.

Don't get me wrong, some of them are awe inspiring. What gets my ass is the head shot from literally across the map from an AK-47 or some other similarly impossible weapon. We (my son and I ) were playing a map impossibly large.. It was generally a snipers only map, but I played it for its hugeness.. Most of the Bots were dumb enough to play "Ala commando knife" but some were lethal with the rifles.. but a few kept choosing the impossible weapons and still making head shots from a mile off.

Anywho's.. I think I will keep hammering at it.. I am not even good enough to remember to buy armour each round.

It may also be partially down to inexperience on your part. Don't get
me wrong, bots do often pull of somewhat impossible shots, and the way
you would go about programming them (or how I would imagine you'd go
about programming them) does include what might be considered
"cheating". That said, as a human player, if you learn how the weapons
react and recoil its possible to handle many of them very effectively
over significant range, far longer than than you might assume based on
the type of weapon. The AK for example can be used very well from miles
away if you just fire in one or two bullet bursts with the right amount
of rest time between. I don't imagine that the bots are coded in a way
that makes their weapons more accurate than that of human players, so
if you point it in the same way as a bot does, and fire it in the same
way, chances are you'll be pulling off those distant head shots too. I
could be wrong of course...wouldn't be the first time

Perhaps its my being in the military thats the issue. I have not killed anyone, but I did spend many hours on the ranges. I know the effective range of most modern weapons up to 1985.. Thats the year I got out.

I know that for instance, the 7.62 is about worthless for accuracy over 1,100 meters.. air drag and its own weight will cause significant error in targeting.. the 5.56 will only really hit whats its aimed at at about 400.

anywho's, perhaps I am wanting realism and should accept its a game. shrugs

I'm kind of big CS player myself, so try not to worry to much when people score "amazing shots" with aks from far range -- I'm sure you've played CS online, no doubt, but I have seen players do some pretty amazing shots with aks -- the key behind the weapon is simply to kill with one shot, since the gun holds nothing that even resembles accuracy after the first two bullets.

Try charging any player, or bot, with mp5 and you should be dropping them like flies.
The ak is actually one of the more effect spraying weapons, if you can predict the recoil. It's a bit like the colt, with the exception of how the bullets fly about 4x as high on full auto, and probably fly off more to the sides. To compinsate, simply aim very far down, and your shots should top off at somewhere that is at head hieght. If you shoot an ak on burst, you will need to move your crosshair down as you shoot, in order to compensate for that after-recoil effect that all cs weapons have. As soon as the recoil stops, level out with where you want the shots to start, and begin to "burst down" again.

Stop being a fool and improve your skills by using only the Desert Eagle! Headshots at long range galore. Coupled with an AK it's easily the best set up in the game.

I concur, add in a couple of flashbangs and you've got yourself a one many killing machine.

3-2 (yes, that little silenced piece of crap you love to hate) is one
of the most efficient close range weapons since it pumps more
bullets in your enemy per second than anything else in this game (3-3
aka the P90 is pretty good too). My all time fave, tho, is the para
(5-1). It can be deadly if you compensate the recoil. Like I said in
another thread, how about getting organised and play some CS
together tomorrow-night (for instance).

as an avid cs player and mapper i play both games. I play hl2dm cuz of
the fast paced game play but i play cs:s for the cooperative type of
game play and or matches in pcw's. However i do play the odd game of
dod occasionally for a kill the living crap out of everyone aspect as
you can mount an mg42 and just constantly fire until ur either
out of bulets or youve died.

saying that ppl who complain bout hacking and other stuff on css
usually complain cuz they have to wait until the round restarts
although most of the time there are ppl which do rate hack and have to
have their rates either reset or there kicked. In my eyes practus makes
perfect. Also it dosent do ne harm to make ur crosshair smaller to get
thos pin point shots in cs:s u can do this with the command
cl_crosshairscale 7000 makes it easier for me to hs ppl

When I still played, I used the MP5 exclusively. Spray and pray! Plus,
it also meant I would have to use my wits and try to outsmart the other
players who had bigger guns. But that usually didn't work out very well.

You can cheange the bot difficulty (If server owner, or if your playing
offline). Also its not the bots fault for being programed to aim for
the hit boxes that happen to be at head level  . I played HL2DM maybe
a total 3 times, I'm a CS person. I found if you play CS, you cant play
HL2DM, the reason being is that its hard for you to kill someone. In CS
its a good 7 shots from a default pistol to take someone down, 4 from a
rifle at a close range while they have kevlar on. Now I went and played
HL2DM and I let off like 3 clips before someone died. The bazooka I
find is not very fun, when your on the other side of it anyway.

You also might be getting owned by bots do to your in experience, its
helpful to duck and wait for your crosshair to get smaller then shoot
once aiming at the head (long distances). Thats how the bots are doing
it, being patient and watching you.

Could it also be they were headshoting you with an AWP? That might
clear up the whole "WTF IMM LIKE A MILLION MILES AWAY, HOW DID HE DO
THAT, LITTLE f**kER. HACKER BOTS, HACKING THEY HACK, HOLY CRAP THEY
HACK" thing.

About the bot AI, they have 2 different modes in my opinion,

1)Dumbass that has no idea whats going on

2) Anyone named Xander or Xavier that f**king headshots you every
f**king round, no matter what you do they always seem to get the kill
and walk about either will 80- 100 health or 2-8 health.

I've played CS a lot. With bots. I've found, that with
bots, grenades are your best friend. I've also found that against
bots rifles are not as good. When I play bots, I use a TMP or
Mac10, along with a lot of grenades, works like a charm.

I've been gone for a while from the forums because I recently got sucked back into CS:S.

If you play more you'll gain a feel for the power and accuracy of
different weapons and soon (like Reno said) you'll be making the same
shots you once thought were impossible.

Recently my favorite combination has been Scout / Desert Eagle. It's so fast and demeaning!
