WARNING:This is not a review. I am sorry to say that I do not know enough about Counter-Strike to even attempt one. However, I am damned good at critiquing maps, so even though I was requested to do a review, I am opting for a critique instead. My hopes are that this will be sufficient.

WARNING #2: It seems that with the new system, you cannot begin a thread in the "Maps" forum unless its about YOUR MAP!.. It also seems that you cannot post in a thread with a finished map so here we are, and I am in a quandary.. Just assume this is being posted in the maps forum and perhaps an Admin will move it there for me.

CS_OfficeSiege

I would also like to request that if anyone else cares to critique this map, that they do so. There is plenty left to comment on I assure you.

My machine specs include:

AMD 3500+ @ 2.2 ghz
Radeon 9800 pro 256 meg.
512m pc3200 ram

roof: like how things are too far away to be drawn  ive never seen that before ingame. the textures just dont seem right for the oof of an office building though, i think you would have more concrete or metal tiles arent used on such big buildings. you get some damn good fps though!

ct spawn: a bit bland. the floor texture doesnt look good and you would never have that on a floor, ceilings not too bad. again textures dont really match an office building, unless this one hase been abandoned or deserted?

other: for the bit with the fish tank or whatever it is once again one texture doesnt quite fit in. the tiling doesnt seem to match with the theme or the rest of the textures. fish tank is a nice edition though.
what happened to the doorway?? the room on #13 seems a bit out of place for the whole office theme a bit bland aswell.
really like the parking garage could do with some more small details though
the vent is not realy that bad though i doubt it would be at ground level. that light seems strange but the vent texture is really good. ledge does look a bit odd.
hmmm strange outside of the ct spawn. it just doesnt fit into the office theme.
hallways are out of place. one starts to think that some of this ugly archtechture and texture misplacement is on purpose?

overall there were some good bits but it really didnt achieve the office theme (quote title) and some bits seemed delibertly made to look awful. plus imalmost sure it isnt finished.

is that enough critique orph?

Thanks Guys,

I agree about the office name being incorrect to the building. One of my favorite old maps that I spent way to much time playing was Siege....(yes i admit it) I loved how you had to rush the garage type fortress.....Hence my garage entrance. I also agree that the CS spawn is bland but is a good start. Now this kinda sucks cause I promised myself I would not put anymore time into this map, but I have to honestly say after taking a step back....The CT spawn definately needs tmore stuff. I am most proud of the layout and the office itself. I am also proud of the actual gameplay the map has to offer (try it with the bot NAV i included) I wanted to get the best of office and siege in one map, but rather than an office....I'm kind of left with a run-down facility (nothing wrong with that) The ducts being ground level is something I never thought of, but I wouldn't dare remove it  (I liked it too much) I completely agree with the Roof texture....Yuck!

Maybe an improvement would be to transform the building into a run-down neglected office. Fix up the roof. Add more dirty barrels, etc to the CT spawn.

Thank you for your reviews. I really appreciate all the feedback. When you get a second, I urge you to test my map with the Bots. I have an awesome time playing with real people when I set up a server every now and then, but Bots will give ya an idea how the map moves in combat

Thanks!

It's good that you finished a map! I tend to get lazy...de_boshi was my first CSS map which for the first time I spent 3 months on and promised to finish it. Sadly I think i've lost that spark for a while

Your map looks interesting although the picture quality looks bad...
