I am back!

After spending a week in Lake Como (the Italian Alps, where Anakin
Skywalker took Padme on their honeymoon) and a few days in Florence, I
just got back from the airport a few hours ago.

Of course, the first thing I do is check the SnarkPit forum. I'll have a few photos loaded up soon enough.

Here are a few representative photos from my honeymoon:

This
is the view from our honeymoon suite in Varenna (one of the villages in
Lake Como).

This
is the panorama of Varenna from the hike to the castle above the town.

Notice the small distant church to the right of the lamp in this
picture
. We actually hiked all the way to that church hanging on the
edge of the cliff in less than an hour because we had to catch the last
ferry back to Bellagio. As you can imagine, the
view
was magnificent.

There are more pictures, of course, but I'm uploading the rest of them to YahooPhotos.

Welcome back Satchmo! I'm sure you had a wonderful time

PS: If you chose that place because of the star wars movie, then... man, you've just moved up to a whole new level of geekdom

That's some very good pictures, Satch! I assume you had a great time in Italy?

I've been to Italy once too, in Roma, Firenze and Napoli. It's a good-looking country for sure.

Oh, and welcome back...

We had a great time. I am writing a travelogue for the trip. It'll be
posted at my blog.

Here
are the pictures I uploaded to YahooPhotos. These aren't as large
as the ones I posted above, but there are more of them.

No, she has absolutely no interest in jewelry. In fact, I think I
was the one who was browsing. She just wanted to get to the next
hike.

Wow, you're really lucky to have found a woman whose not caught up by
expensive things like jewelry. My father always thought it was
the biggest waste of money... buying something nice and expensive that
my mom was too scared of losing to wear.

So true. Quite a woman, she seems. I think I'm pushing it just asking for someone who isn't a bitch or boring or uber-insecure like all my others. But I've got a renewd hope now that I hear of this woman who actually WANTS to go on hikes and stuff.

Thanks.

Doesn't

this
remind you of a place we've all been to before, like
somewhere in City17?

It's actually the central station in Milan.

Judging from the photo that's an awesome station, and very reminiscent of HL2.

I had to watch the old Soviet movie "The Man with a Movie Camera" for
Film class, and a lot of the real life locations reminded me very much
of City17.

Many congratulations on the happy event, Satchmo. I wish you and Mrs. Satchmo a long and happy life together.

The Italian Alps are obscenely beautiful - a friend of mine owns a
villa on lake Maggiore which we visit whenever we get the chance - The perfect honeymoon destination.

The perfect honeymoon destination
I figured that Anakin Skywalker should have pretty good taste, even
though he did turn to the Dark Side eventually. I believe George
Lucas picked the location because it truly could be the most beautiful
place in the galaxy.

True, very true - it's the duelling banjoists that put me off.
