In your opinion, what is better to map for: Single Player or Multi
Player? And I mean any mod, such as Opposing Force, Counter Strike etc.
Give reasons for your choice, such as its more fun to map for, gets
played more, less restrictions etc.
I prefer Single Player mapping, proberly cause I like making puzzles
and stuff, and I never finish MP maps. I also like trying my Maps/Mods
out on my friends!
I would love to change the world, But they would'nt give me the source code.

I voted MP because projects take less time and will likely see more popularity and play time.

I find single-player is easier, as spoolE said, making puzzles is fun !!

Well... if we were to name the number of famous custom singleplayer
maps we were familiar with vs. the number of famous custom multiplayer
maps we were familiar with, I think you'd see a huge imbalance.
Multiplayer is always the most popular element of the HL games, and
therefore the custom multiplayer maps see more popularity and playtime
than the singleplayer ones, imo.

If you want to make a quality single-player map, it takes a lot more thinking and effort to make it right. You have to consider pacing, combat variety, balance (AI versus player), ammo placement and weapon availability, and the ultimate fun factor.
But most importantly, I never get to play the multiplayer maps I make. I don't have any local gaming friends, and I can't get my map hosted anywhere on the internet servers. So I devote the majority of my mapping energy to single-player projects.
I like tricking the player and playing psychological games with the player in a single-player map. You can't have that kind of relationship with the players in a deathmatch map. In an arena, it's mostly player against player, not designer/mapper against player.

Better? What do you mean better?
I like them both. But MP is easier, since you have to think about less things while making the map. Sure in SP you can go all out, but then you not only have to deal with brush work, but you have to deal with logic, physics (if available), and other such things. If you can pump out a GOOD SP map, then you should have trouble doing MP. Just don't get carried away.
But, as for better? I don't think either is better than the other.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I've had people frag/play in 2 maps that I've made... and there's no
better feeling (at least in the digital realm). I love getting
feedback, and the positive comments make me just grin foolishly and get
all light and happy inside.
The idea of taking something from my head, and using my hands to make
it on my computer... and then distributing it to the computers of
others... and then have them move around in this world that once
existed only in my hand is awesome. It's playing God in a small
simple way.

i have to go for SP. i can express my creativity with more freedom and restrictions. plus you can put more into an SP map - npcs, puzzles, more extravagant objectives, things like tha

Actually -- both times that I've had a map played came from being in a
gaming "clan." None of my friends here play the games I do, and
none of them would be interested in the maps I make. Everytime
I've tested / played a map I've made it has been with either perfect
strangers, or just online acquaintances.
I know you're pretty busy as a doctor and a husband, but if you ever
get involved in CS:S mapping or a similar pursuit, try joining a clan
for that game... and then eventually broach the subject of testing your
map. In joining a clan you instantly have a server to test the
map on as well as 10-15 people willing to play your creation.
When I was testing my map rushdown it became pretty popular among my
clanmates and it was voted on rotation quite often, and many many
strangers came in and played it with us. It's always shocking to
see how many people are willing to download a map they've never seen
before. It was seriously one of the most rewarding mapping
experiences in my short history of fooling around with hammer.
