I avoid drugs whenever possible to be honest. I'll have Lemsip or
something when I'm particularly choked up with cold or flu, but thats
about it really.

That's ironic, considering that you've misspelled the name of the medication you listed in the same post.

It's flu season alright. I should know. But what I found most effective is to get the flu shot before getting sick. I get it every year.

After you become sick, there's not a whole lot you can do. I
personally don't like taking any medicine, even though I prescribe them
all the time. The side effects of these medicine are often more
uncomfortable than the flu symptoms themselves.

Yeah, I avoid drugs too, just because I like to listen to what my body
is telling me. I like to know when I actually feel better,
sometimes its hard to tell if you're doped up. The only time I
take advil or tylenol is when I'm so sick I can't sleep.
Otherwise, its just water and rest.

Also try a humidifier. It makes some people feel better.

And if you have fever for more than four days, you should see a doctor.

That would work too.

But it sounds like you're in good hands. What type of doctor is your Dad?

On a separate note, I just emailed you my de_justice map. Thanks for taking it to your clan.

Eastern Standard Time, because hes american.

I try to avoid drugs as well. Only antihistamines during hayfever season (which is right now down here), and when it feels like I'm dying.

That's funny, I've heard somewhere that getting the flu shot regularly
for long periods of time screws-up antibody production, as in the body
will start producing white cells even if the required stimuli aren't
there (like the virus). That didn't stop me from getting vaccinated,
though (especially since the avian flu is knocking at the door).

That's entirely untrue. I have never heard that.
(especially since the avian flu is knocking at the door).
Unfortunately, the current flu faccine does not protect you from the
avian flu. The scientists are still working on a vaccine that's
effective against it.

Here in the UK only the old and weak get flu shots...

Just curious Satchmo, but (if) you have children, would you treat them normally or be really careful with thier health? I mean, would you let them play in dirt and crap or only in your wierd clean suit fun room?

AFAIK scientists are afraid that the avian flu virus will combine itself
with the human variant resulting in a very dangerous mutation. So what
they're trying to do is keep the avian flu virus away from the human
one as much as possible. It's pretty futile is you ask me.

Fish hey? I don't think so. The flu virus enters the body through the respiratory mucosa. Fish have gills, so they don't have the necessary interface for the virus to invade.
